LG Electronics have recently provided information of a new, upcoming monitor from their UltraGear range which will be one of the first to use LG.Display’s new 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem WOLED panel. The LG 27GX700A is a 27″ sized monitor with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and a 280Hz refresh rate, similar to the already announced Gigabyte MO27Q28G that was unveiled at Computex in May. LG.Display, the panel manufacturer, recently confirmed that this new WOLED technology panel was now in mass production and so we expect to see several brands launch screens using it this year.

LG 27GX700A Specs

Full specs of the new screen are not yet available but what we do know so far is that the screen will be 27″ in size and offer a 2560 x 1440 resolution combined with a 280Hz refresh rate. It has a 0.03ms G2G response time, 1500 nits peak brightness for HDR (1.5% APL) and a wide colour gamut covering 99.5% DCI-P3. The screen also meets the VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification tier.

Adaptive-sync supports VRR with the screen being certified under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ and NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ schemes. The monitor will also be VESA ClearMR 13000 certified.

LG Electronics claim that they’ve incorporated a “special film” and “optimized the internal panel structure” which they claim can block 99% of internal and external reflections. We already know that their matte AG coating does a good job of handling reflections and glare, we’ll have to wait and see if it’s been changed in any meaningful way on the upcoming panels to improve levels of graininess, glare reduction or ambient light handling/black level raise.

4th Gen WOLED with a Primary RGB Tandem panel

What makes this screen especially interesting is that it will use the first 4th Gen WOLED monitor panel to be produced, offering improved brightness and colour capabilities compared with earlier WOLED technology panels. It achieves this thanks to the new so-called ‘Primary RGB Tandem’ panel structure, shifting from 3 light-emitting layers to 4. There are other 4th Gen WOLED panels that will be produced by LG.Display later on as well, with one other announced so far. That’s a 27″ 1440p resolution panel with a 540Hz refresh rate and support for 720Hz even through a dual-mode function. We’ve seen Asus and Chinese manufacturer SDC tease screens using that future panel already in fact.

Pricing and availability

Update 14/8/25 – the screen has appeared now to buy on Amazon in some regions, including the US where it is priced at $849.99 USD. You can check latest availability and pricing for your region here (affiliate link).
