Alienware Release a New Firmware for the AW3926QW – Should You Update?

For those who’ve asked, we’ve tested the latest M2B102 firmware for the new Alienware AW3926QW, their newly released 39″ ultrawide Tandem WOLED screen with a 5K2K resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, RGB stripe sub-pixel layout and glossy screen coating. This new firmware was released on 26 August 2026 and we’ve had a lot of people asking us about whether it offers any improvements, especially to the reported issues around edge-dimming on this model.

Where can I get the new firmware?
You can find the latest firmware here on Dell.com and it will be shown in the list like the below screenshot. It’s very quick and easy to download and install, you just need the screen connected via USB A > B from PC to monitor.

What are the listed updates and fixes?

Alienware list the below updates and fixes on their product page, no reference to anything relating to the CPC edge dimming OLED care feature at the moment sadly.

Our testing – what has changed?

This new update does seem to fix the sRGB gamma curve for Creator > sRGB mode, despite not being listed in the fix list. We measured the same accurate performance for that mode as before in terms of greyscale temp, colour clamping and colour accuracy; but now the gamma curve has been corrected from the ~2.2 behaviour we’d originally seen, to the intended sRGB gamma stated in the factory calibration report.

However, it doesn’t change the behaviour of CPC edge dimming at this time according to our testing. We saw the same behaviour we described in our review. We have reported these issues back to Alienware already so as and when we get any update on potential changes, we will let you know.
Pricing and availability update
- In the US the screen is available now at $1,099.99 USD. You can find it here (affiliate link)
- The UK and European product pages are set to go live on 08 September with orders available from that date, and the pricing has been confirmed as £999 GBP / €1,149 Euro.
