TCL CSOT Showcase Further IJP OLED Panels at IFA 2026
While we were at IFA 2026 this week in Berlin, we had chance to visit the TCL CSOT booth and discuss the latest information about their new Inkjet printed OLED (IJP OLED) panels. Three 27″ IJP OLED Panel options now available
At the show was a new 2nd gen version of their recently produced 27″ 4K 120Hz IJP OLED panel. This time it has an enhanced brightness spec, reaching 500 nits for SDR and promising some further improvements for HDR as well. Expectations are that it will reach ~1200 nits peak brightness and should hopefully pass a higher HDR certification tier, but that is still to be confirmed.
This 2nd gen panel offers higher brightness than the first gen panel, which reaches 300 nits SDR, 1000 nits peak, HDR True Black 400 certification. MSI have selected the first gen version for their PRO MAX monitor, which is more focused around professional and office applications, while this 2nd gen panel TCL CSOT tell us would be aimed more at multimedia displays. A prototype was on show at the event as pictured above.
TCL CSOT tell us that this enhanced brightness is achieved through a modified “ink” layer (i.e. the OLED material) which is more efficient, while there’s no change to the aperture ratio in this instance.
Not actually on show at the event, they do have a third 27″ 4K panel offering that has been showcased at some other events earlier this year. This option will provide a higher refresh rate of 240Hz, made possible they say through the use of an Oxide backplane and their main production line. They expect to use this production process and backplane for other future panels and so higher refresh rates will continue to be offered. Other specs are to be finalised at this stage.
Monitor adoption
So far the only monitor to be announced featuring any of these IJP OLED panels is MSI’s PRO MAX model, but we expect others to follow at some point. TCL CSOT say they are in discussions with customers around potential adoption for relevant displays.
Auto OLED Care feature
We also had an interesting conversation with TCL CSOT about the reported “Auto OLED Care” feature that these panels utlise, a feature which MSI were promoting for their display at Gamescom.
They tell us that this feature uses an “internal compensation” chip which continuously adjusts voltage to the OLED pixels, dynamically tracking and updating each pixel. This is as opposed to traditional “external compensation” approaches which after a period of time as the panel becomes less uniform/bright, run a typical pixel refresh cycle. This means that where the Auto OLED Care approach is adopted, you do not need to run traditional pixel refresh cycles, reducing interuptions.
The internal compensation process is likely better for office monitors like the MSI PRO MAX model, whereas for gaming monitors they might have a more sudden brightness change or flash bang type behaviour, and this approach wouldn’t be sufficient on its own to correct and level out things. As a result those screens may need an external compensation / traditional pixel clean cycle instead. TCL CSOT say they can offer both to their customers depending on requirements and preferences.
Other future panels
TCL CSOT said they were actively developing further panel sizes and options but no official information is available at this time, and it’s likely that this first wave of 27″ 4K panels will be the focus for at least the next year or so. As they continue to refine the production processes and learn from the mass production phase of these first panels, we’re sure this will lead to other options later on.
