SDC Tease The First 720Hz Refresh Rate 4th Gen WOLED Monitor
Originally published 25 June 2025, last updated 26 June 2025

Information about this screen is very scarce at the moment and it looks like the Chinese manufacturer have removed mention of it from their official webpage at this time. We thought it would be worth covering though as something that gives an idea of things to come in the OLED monitor market, with other manufacturers very likely to be using the same panel and offering the same specs from upcoming screens.
For instance, we’ve already discussed in recent months how Asus plan to make use of this panel later this year, so the specs and info provided here from SDC gives us a bit more of a flavour as to what we can probably expect from Asus and anyone else who chooses to make use of this new panel. For those in relevant regions (China and Japan basically), the SDC monitor may also be worth considering as and when it’s released.
Here’s what we know so far:
SDC Flash-540-META Monitor Information

The information available at this time is contained in the above spec image from Chinese display manufacturer SDC (“Super Display Company”). The name translates as the “Flash-540-META”.
The screen is 27″ in size (accurately 26.5″ like all the other 27″ class OLED monitors). It has a flat format and a 2560 x 1440 resolution. It’s built around a new 4th Gen WOLED panel from LG.Display, featuring their ‘Primary RGB Tandem’ panel technology (aka META 3.0), offering higher brightness and efficiency and improved colour performance compared with previous WOLED panels. We’ve already seen Gigabyte showcase the World’s first monitor to feature a 4th Gen WOLED panel at Computex 2025 in May, and this other new 27″ panel will be a follow up later on.
720Hz Refresh Rate via a “special mode”
The most interesting spec listed is the 720Hz refresh rate, which will apparently be available via a “special mode”. The panel itself has a native 540Hz refresh, so at the 2560 x 1440 resolution it will operate at 540Hz max (the fastest OLED refresh rate to date when it’s released). The special mode looks like it will offer a “dual-mode” function, although this may be a little different to what we’ve seen so far from models like the Asus ROG Swift PG32UCDP, LG 32GS95UE and LG 45GX950A for instance.
Dual mode usually involves dropping the resolution to a quarter in order to double the refresh rate. e.g. 4K @ 240Hz or 1080p @ 480Hz being the common one. But on a 2560 x 1440 panel like this new screen, that would be a very low 720p resolution (1280 x 720).
Update 26/6/25 – a later LG.Display press release announcing successful development of this WOLED panel states that the 720Hz mode will operate at “HD” resolution which represents 1280 x 720.
Other specs
In other specs there is a a 0.03ms G2G response time, 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, 335 nits full screen brightness (and SDR), 99.5% DCI-P3 colour gamut, 10-bit colour depth, 178/178 viewing angles. For HDR the panel will offer a 1500 nits peak luminance (1.5% APL) and 335 nits full screen (100% APL). It will be certified under the VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black tier as well.

It looks like SDC plan to use a standard matte anti-glare coating on their screen according to the specs, while Asus are expected to use their new ‘True Black’ glossy screen coating on their teased future model.
Connectivity is listed as DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 on the provided spec image, although users on Reddit report speaking with SDC who said a DP 2.1 (UHBR20) version would also be available. DP 1.4 can still support the spec of this screen using DSC anyway.
Asus likely to use this same panel in their upcoming monitor

We wouldn’t expect to see this SDC screen released widely as they only sell in China and Japan at this time, but given we already know Asus are planning to use this same new 4th Gen WOLED panel later this year, it gives us a good indication as to what we can probably expect from their screen when it’s formally announced and the full spec is available.
We don’t have any firm details on release dates or pricing for these potential new screens at the moment, although a later LG.Display press release announcing successful development of this WOLED panel suggests production for the panel will be in the second half of 2025. More info of course on both these screens as and when we get it.
