Samsung Unveil 2025 QD-OLED Monitor Line-up Including a 27″ 4K and a 500Hz Display (plus others)
Ahead of CES 2025 which starts next week in Las Vegas, Samsung Electronics have unveiled some information about their 2025 QD-OLED monitor line-up, and a couple of other new LCD monitors too. Headlining the new monitors for this year are a 27″ 4K OLED model and a 27″ 1440p model with a whopping 500Hz refresh rate. There’s only limited information provided so far, but here’s what we know at the moment.
Samsung Odyssey G60SF – 27 ” 1440p OLED with 500Hz refresh rate
The G60SF will be the company’s highest refresh rate OLED gaming monitor, boasting a new 500Hz refresh rate QD-OLED panel. This takes QD-OLED a little ahead of the existing 480Hz WOLED panel options from LG.Display (e.g. the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQDP), and should offer exceptional motion clarity and gaming experience. The G60SF is 27″ in size (26.5″ accurately) and has a 2560 x 1440 resolution like their previous 360Hz panels. The screen will support adaptive-sync for VRR and should be certified under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium Pro’ and NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ schemes. The press release implies that the screen will feature their “glare-free” matte screen coating as with their 2024 OLED line-up.
We also saw the MSI Announce the MPG 272QR today with the same 500Hz QD-OLED panel.
Samsung Odyssey G81SF – with 27″ 4K 240Hz OLED panel
The G81SF marks the company’s first QD-OLED monitor with 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution in a 27″ screen size, something a lot of people have been waiting for. This offers an increased pixel density of ~166 PPI for excellent image detail and clarity.
Also announced today with this spec was the MSI MPG 272URX which we’ve even had chance to test already, so you can find our video covering a hands on, specs and unboxing here. Asus are also expected to release a similar 27″ 4K offering soon based on early teases. This model will have a 240Hz refresh rate like the current 32″ 4K OLED panels available. The new Samsung screen will support adaptive-sync for VRR and should be certified under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium Pro’ and NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ schemes. The press release implies that the screen will feature their “glare-free” matte screen coating as with their 2024 OLED line-up.
Samsung M90SF – 32″ 4K OLED with Smart TV functions
Samsung are also announcing their new M90SF OLED monitor, with Smart TV functions powered by their Tizen operating system. This is an OLED monitor which is 32″ in size and offers a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Its thin design, along with the Easy Setup Stand, allows users to effortlessly create their ideal workspace, and a built-in 4K camera makes it convenient to use in any environment.
The press release says that “as the first monitor to integrate on-device AI, the M9 features AI Picture Optimizer, which analyzes input signals to determine the type of content being viewed — such as gaming, video or productivity applications — and automatically adjust the display settings for the best visual experience. For gamers, the AI goes further by recognizing the genre of the game being played and fine-tune the picture settings to deliver an optimal and immersive experience for every playstyle.
The M9 also incorporates 4K AI Upscaling Pro, which uses advanced AI processing and neural networks to upgrade lower-resolution content up to 4K quality. By analyzing input signals and existing image data, this feature delivers crystal-clear visuals with enhanced detail, regardless of the original resolution.”
Samsung Odyssey 3D G90XF – a glasses free 27″ 3D monitor
Something we first saw back at Gamescom 2024 in August, Samsung is also launching a new monitor with glasses-free 3D technology, where a front camera tracks the user’s eyes in real-time to adjust a lenticular lens. The Odyssey 3D G90XF is a 27″ IPS LCD monitor with 4K 3840 x 2160 resolution intended for gaming. The Odyssey 3D can also utilize AI-based technology to convert regular content into 3D, including games and video.
Samsung ViewFinity S8 – a 37″ 16:9 display
The ViewFinity S8 is a large 37″ size LCD monitor with a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio designed for productivity and work. Its screen is approximately 34% larger than the previous model and is designed to maximize productivity, immersion and efficiency. More information can be seen at a glance while making the most out of desk space — ushering in a new era of large, high-productivity monitors.
It offers a 99% sRGB standard colour gamut and the ViewFinity S8 has been certified by TÜV Rheinland for ‘Ergonomic Workspace Display,’ recognizing its ergonomic design that enhances work immersion, task efficiency and productivity. TÜV-certified7 Intelligent Eye Care reduces fatigue in users’ eyes — even during prolonged use — by adjusting the colour temperature based on the environment’s lighting. Eye saver mode and a flicker-free feature also protect eyes from strain.
With a simple Easy Setup Stand, the S8 also keeps productivity high through a built-in KVM switch, turning the monitor into a single command station for multitasking across several devices with only one mouse and keyboard. Devices can also be connected and charged at the same time with a 90W USB-C connection, making it easy to quickly manage all the accessories a user needs.
Further information and specs
We are expecting further details to be made available at CES next week so we will update this news piece when we have more info. There’s no details about connection options, other specs, pricing or availability yet it seems for the headline new OLED screens.
