MSI to Release Three 4K Dual-Mode MAG Series LCD Gaming Monitors

MSI have today announced 3 new gaming monitors that will be showcased at CES next week. One we actually saw at Gamescom in August 2024, but is being demonstrated again ahead of its launch this year. The other two are new models we’ve not seen before. The focus of all 3 models is to offer “dual-mode” support, allowing gamers to choose between higher resolution or higher refresh rate, depending on their gaming requirements and preference. There’s options in 31.5″ and 27″ sizes, a choice of curved or flat, and a choice between VA and IPS panels too. Let’s run through the details of all 3 models:
MSI MAG 321CUPDF

This is the model we saw back in August at Gamescom. It’s 31.5″ in size and uses a Rapid VA technology LCD panel with a 1500R curvature. The screen has a native 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution and a 160Hz refresh rate, but this can be switched to a lower 1080p resolution (FHD) at 320Hz if you’d rather maximise speed and frame rates.
In other specs the screen offers a 0.5ms G2G response time and a wide colour gamut covering 97% DCI-P3, 93% Adobe RGB and ~136% sRGB. The screen supports adaptive-sync for VRR and includes certification under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ and VESA ‘AdaptiveSync’ schemes. Note that this model does not support the MSI Gaming Intelligence app.

MSI MAG 322URDF E16

This is a new model which is also 31.5″ in size and is built around a flat format ‘Rapid IPS’ technology LCD panel. Like the MAG 321CUPDF, the screen has a native 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution and a 160Hz refresh rate, but this can be switched to a lower 1080p resolution (FHD) at 320Hz if you’d rather maximise speed and frame rates. The main difference with this model is that it is flat, not curved and features an IPS panel instead of VA.

In other specs the screen offers a 0.5ms G2G response time and supports adaptive-sync for VRR which includes certification under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ and VESA ‘AdaptiveSync’ schemes. This model does support the MSI Gaming Intelligence app as well as some of the company’s new ‘AI’ gaming features.
MSI MAG 272URDF E16

Another new screen being announced is 27″ in size, with a flat format Rapid IPS panel. The screen has a native 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution and a 160Hz refresh rate, but this can be switched to a lower 1080p resolution (FHD) at 320Hz if you’d rather maximise speed and frame rates. The main difference with this model is it’s smaller screen size and therefore higher pixel density for 4K.

In other specs the screen offers a 0.5ms G2G response time and supports adaptive-sync for VRR which includes certification under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ and VESA ‘AdaptiveSync’ schemes. This model supports the MSI Gaming Intelligence app as well as some of the company’s new ‘AI’ gaming features.
Pricing and availability
This model we are told should be released in Q2 2025 but pricing is still to be confirmed.
