MSI Showcase MAG 321CUPDF at Gamescom, The World’s First Curved Dual-Mode Monitor

Showcased at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany was the new MSI MAG 321CUPDF monitor. We actually saw first details of this in June at Computex where it went by the product name of MPG 321CUPF. It’s the same screen, but the model number and series has been changed to the MAG 321CUPDF.

This is a new LCD monitor that will offer dual-mode refresh rate support. It’s 31.5″ in size and can support 4K (3840 x 2160) at 160Hz, or 1080p at 320Hz if you’d rather. This allows you to prioritise either image detail and resolution, or frame rates and speed. It’s a VA technology panel with a 1500R curvature. We’ve seen this technology on a few OLED monitors already, but it’s now making its way in to the LCD panel market too.

The screen has a “frameless design” and of note, MSI list a console mode to “perfectly support 120Hz at 4K with next gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S”. The spec lists an adjustable stand, which we expect to mean a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate although these specifics are not listed. For connectivity there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (with DSC), 2x HDMI 2.1 and 1x USB-C (with DP Alt mode, data and 15W power delivery). There’s also a headphone connection.

The MPG 321CUPF has a current expected retail price of $499.99 USD, or 649 Euros and is expected to be available in November 2024.
