Acer Predator X32 QD-OLED Launched with a Curved 32″ Panel and 240Hz

Acer have recently launched their new Acer Predator X32 display, a 32″ sized screen built around a curved QD-OLED panel, and offering a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. It’s an alternative to the alreadya vailable Dell Alienware AW3225QF we have reveiewed in the past, as well as the recently announced MSI MPG 321CURX that was showcased at Gamescom in August. It has a subtle 1700R curvature, providing an alternative to the wide range of flat format screens released so far, providing a potentially more comfortable and immersive experience for gaming and multimedia.

Is a curved screen good at this size?
Whether or not you want a flat or a curved screen is largely down to personal taste. In the past we have found the aggressive curve of some 27″ and 32″ LCD monitors to be too much, for instance the Samsung Odyssey G7 series which had a steep 1000R curve. When we tested and reviewed the Dell Alienware AW3225QF we were actually pretty happy with the curve on that model. At 1700R it was fairly subtle, and it provided a slightly more comfortable viewing experience we felt for certain situations, especially for multimedia and gaming from up close. 32″ is a pretty large screen, and some people may prefer this subtle curve on this size.

Acer Predator X32 QD-OLED Specs
The new screen is 32″ in size (well, accurately 31.5″) and has a 1700R curvature. It’s built around a third generation Samsung Display QD-OLED panel and offers a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution, 0.03ms G2G response time, 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, 250 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% DCI-P3. The 240Hz native refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for variable refresh rates from compatible NVIDIA and AMD systems, including certification under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ scheme.
For HDR the screen offers a 1000 nits peak brightness spec (3% APL), and is certified under the VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black tier.

The screen also include 2x 5W front-facing intergated speakers and for connectivity there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (with DSC), 2x HDMI 2.1 (capabilities not listed), and 1x USB type-C (with DP Alt mode and 65W power delivery) available. 2x USB data ports, a headphone jack and a KVM switch function are also on offer. The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments.
Pricing and availability
The screen is starting to appear on some retailers now including Amazon where it is listed at a price of $1059 at the time of writing. Other regions will likely follow soon.
