Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR with 27″ 1440p Fast IPS Panel and 300Hz Refresh Rate

Asus have released a new monitor in their ROG Strix gaming line-up. The XG27AQMR follows on from their previous XG27AQM model, offering many of the same features and specs but increasing the refresh rate from 270Hz overclocked, to 300Hz native. The screen is 27″ in size and has a 2560 x 1440 resolution Fast IPS panel, and a range of gaming extras like G-sync Compatible certification and the manufacturer’s ELMB-sync blur reduction technology.
Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR Specs

The screen is 27″ in size and has a 2560 x 1440 resolution Fast IPS panel. There is a 1ms G2G response time spec (as ever), 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 1.07b colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 97% DCI-P£ and 120% sRGB. The screen comes factory calibrated as well with a dE <2 listed.
Refresh Rate, VRR and Blur Reduction
The panel has a high 300Hz native refresh rate, and this is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR, including certification under the NVIDIA ‘G-Sync Compatible’ and AMD ‘FreeSync Premium Pro’ schemes according to the product page. Oh, and it’s also been certified under the new and confusingly named VESA AdaptiveSync 300 tier. The screen can also operate VRR at the same time as a strobing blur reduction backlight mode, using the ‘ELMB-sync’ feature common on many Asus gaming screens.

HDR and Connections
The screen is also certified against the DisplayHDR 600 scheme, with a peak brightness of 600 nits, and the pre-requisite wide colour gamut, 10-bit colour depth and some basic edge-lit local dimming to help increase the contrast. No word on number of dimming zones in the spec, but we don’t expect many.
There are 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0 connections available, along with a 2 port USB data hub and a headphone jack. The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.
No word on availability and pricing yet
