AOC’s AGON Pro AGP277QK with a 1000Hz IPS Dual-Mode Panel Appears

Hot on the heels of the 1000Hz Philips model we reported on earlier this month, AOC’s AGON Pro AGP277QK has also now officially launched in China too. It features the same 27” ‘Fast IPS’ panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and a native 540Hz refresh rate, with a ‘dual-mode’ function allowing you to boost your refresh rate to a staggering 1000Hz when dropping to a lower 720p / HD resolution.
We first brought you news of this refresh rate beast back in December 2025 when it was teased alongside the Phillips 27M2N5500XD model, but we are pleased to see the product page has now appeared to allow us to take a closer look. This will be the second high-speed gaming monitor in AOC’s AGON Pro line-up, after the AGP277QKD 540Hz OLED model was announced last month.
AOC AGON Pro AGP277QK Specs

This is a 27” in size with a flat format, and is built around a ‘Fast IPS’ LCD technology panel. It features a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 109 PPI pixel density, 1ms G2G response time spec (0.3ms MPRT), 2000:1 contrast ratio, 350 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and an extended colour gamut covering 100% sRGB and 95% of the DCI-P3 colour spaces. It also offers a factory calibrated Delta E>1 colour accuracy.
The dual-mode 540Hz / 1000Hz refresh rates are supported by adaptive-sync for VRR from compatible systems. Other gaming features include Low Input Lag, Dynamic Crosshair, Sniper Scope, Dark area control, enhanced Shadow detail and Frame Counter. You can also customise your gaming set-up using AOC’s G-Menu software which allows for easy access to your gaming pre-sets and display settings. There is limited HDR support with VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification and a peak brightness of 500 nits.

The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments and has a convenient headphone hook built into the side of the screen. It also includes AOC’s Light FX feature which is an RGB ambient lighting system at the back which illuminates the area behind the monitor proving you with more immersion. This can be customised via the G-Menu software. Low Blue Light and Flicker-free technologies help to reduce eye strain and fatigue.

Is IPS really going to be fast enough?
As we said in the past, we remain sceptical about whether these IPS LCD panels are really going to be able to keep up with the frame rate demands of 1000Hz+ when it comes to pixel response times, they will need to be able to reliably keep <1ms G2G for that, which seems very unlikely based on what we’ve seen from this technology in the past. The super-high refresh rates in the LCD space tend to be most effective on ageing TN Film panels, such as the wide range of 600Hz+ models we saw unveiled last year, with OLED panels really offering the best response times that make pushing for higher refresh rates viable. We will have to see how these perform once they are released and tested.
Connectivity

For connectivity there are 2x HDMI 2.1, 1x DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR 20 tier) and 3x USB 3.2 Type-A data ports. In addition it has 2 x 5W integrated speakers, a headphone jack and PiP/PbP support for handling multiple devices.
Availability and pricing
This model has only appeared in China at this time and there are no further details about a wider release date and pricing yet. More info when we get it.
