LG Release the UltraGear Evo 45GX950B, an Updated Version of Their 45″ 5K2K OLED Monitor

LG have released details of their new UltraGear 45GX950B (not to be confused with the original 45GX950A which we reviewed last year). This offers a small incremental update to some of the features, but the panel and spec remain unchanged. To cover this up front, it’s still using a 3rd Gen WOLED panel (not Tandem WOLED) and it still has a 165Hz refresh rate, an 800R curvature and their matte AG screen coating. Nothing has changed there.
The main change with this updated B model is that they’ve added on their recently introduced AI features, including their AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimization and AI Sound capabilities. We saw all of these featured on their 39″ ultrawide OLED monitor which we reviewed recently, so if you want to know more about how they perform and their use-cases, check out that review. The resolution also fits under their newly introduced “Evo” branding, and so this model is also now officially part of that range of 5K-type screens.

LG UltraGear Evo 45GX950B specs
The screen is 45″ in size with an ultrawide format and 21:9 aspect ratio. It has a steep 800R curvature (not bendable) and a matte anti-glare screen coating. It offers a 5120 x 2160 “5K2K” (or “4K-ultrawide” if you prefer) resolution, 125 PPI pixel density, 0.03ms G2G response time spec, 275 nits brightness (SDR), 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 98.5% DCI-P3.

It has a native 165Hz refresh rate with a dual-mode function supporting 330Hz at 2560 x 1080. VRR is supported by adaptive-sync with certification under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium Pro’ and NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ schemes.

For HDR the screen offers a 1300 nits peak brightness (at 1.5% APL) and VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification.

LG’s model will offer a matte anti-glare screen coating. Before you ask, there’s no word on any glossy monitors using this panel at this stage.
Newly added AI features

AI Upscaling offers a built-in processor which enables upgrading low-resolution content to high-definition 5K2K resolution from any device (according to the marketing). Actually we found this to be rather limited in practical use-cases, check out our review of the 39″ ultrawide OLED model for loads more testing and information.

AI Scene Optimization recognizes what’s on the screen and automatically adjusts the display. It optimizes the display for various content, including documents, animations, movies, games, and sports and so intelligently switches between presets and modes depending on what you’re viewing.

AI Sound is a feature which separates voice, sound effects, and background music, delivering optimized, immersive, and clear sound for each through the built-in speakers or headphones connected to the monitor.
Connectivity and other features

Connectivity includes 1x DisplayPort 2.1 (we expect this to be UHBR 13.5 like the A model as nothing is mentioned on the product page), 1x USB type-C (with DP Alt mode, data and 90W power delivery) and 2x HDMI 2.1 connections. There’s also 2x USB-A data ports and a 4-pole headphone/mic jack. Last year the A model was advertised as featuring DTS Headphone:X on the headphone connection, but that’s not referenced here. PiP and PbP are supported for handling multiple video inputs.
Hardware calibration is supported like on LG’s other OLED monitors, a feature actually unique in the consumer OLED space to LG right now. There’s also 2x 7W integrated speakers which are a downgrade from the 2x 10W offered on the A model last year. The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments.

Pricing and availability
While this screen has not yet appeared on LG’s US or European product pages, it has appeared now on their Japan page where it is available for pre-order, with shipping expected to begin from 11 June 2026. It’s priced at ¥259,800 (actually on offer already down from ¥329,800). At the offer price this is around $1,660 USD or around £1,220 GBP, although that’s likely a “before tax / VAT” price. We’ll have to wait for other regional product pages to appear for more information on pricing and release dates.
The original 45GX950A was a really impressive screen and if you want to know loads more about performance and capabilities then check out our full review here. This new 45GX950B model should be basically the same, just with those AI features now added if you are interested in any of those. If the price remains very similar to the A model, that makes the B model a sensible option, or likely they will just phase out the A model in favour of this as the replacement/update.
More information on regional availability when we get it.
