In our March 2023 update about LG.Display’s LCD panels we brought you news of a new 49″ ultrawide panel in developed based on the company’s IPS Black technology. This went in to production during Q1, and we’ve now seen the first display announced featuring this new panel. The Dell UltraSharp U4924DW is that new display, offering a massive 49″ ultrawide format, a 32:9 aspect ratio and a 5120 x 1440 resolution, the same basically as dual 27″ 1440p displays joined together. Dell have been a key adopter of these new IPS Black panels, aimed currently at general, office and productivity uses as there are no high refresh rate panels available yet. We’ve tested in the past the Dell UltraSharp U3223QE which had one of the first IPS Black panels to market, in a 31.5″ screen size.
