ViewSonic Launch Elite XG341C-2K with 34″ Panel, 200Hz and Mini LED Backlight (plus XG272-2K)
ViewSonic have this week showcased two monitors from their ‘Elite’ gaming series of monitors. First up is their 34″ ultrawide XG341C-2K, originally announced back in September, but now being released, this model has a 200Hz refresh rate and high-end Mini LED backlight for HDR. The second model being showcased is the XG272-2K, a 27″ sized screen with 400Hz refresh rate. Details of both models below.
ViewSonic Elite XG341C-2K specs
The XG341C-2K is a 34″ ultrawide screen featuring a curved (1500R) VA technology panel with a 3440 x 1440 resolution. It has a high 200Hz overclocked refresh rate (165Hz native), backed by adaptive-sync for VRR from compatible NVIDIA and AMD systems. It includes certification under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium Pro’ scheme.
This model has a high end Mini LED backlight with 1,152 local dimming zones, allowing it to meet the VESA DisplayHDR 1400 standard and deliver a peak brightness of 1400 nits. This should offer very good HDR experience with lots of dimming zones, from a VA panel that already has a very good native contrast ratio.
In other specs there is a 1ms MPRT response time (with their ‘PureXP’ blur reduction mode included), 3000:1 contrast ratio, 720 nits max brightness (SDR mode), wide colour gamut covering 97% DCI-P3 and ~140% sRGB. This is made possible through the use of a Quantum Dot coating. Oddly ViewSonic list the colour depth of this screen as “true 8-bit”, but for a screen to pass the DisplayHDR 1400 certification it needs to be able to accept a 10-bit colour depth, so we assume this to be achieved.
For connectivity there is 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (with DSC), 1 USB type-C (with DP Alt mode and 90W power delivery) and 2x HDMI 2.1 connections. The HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and capabilities are not listed on the product page, so we can’t draw any conclusions simply from the use of the 2.1 label sadly. The screen also supports KVM functionality and PiP/PbP modes. There are also 3x USB data ports and an audio output provided. The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments. The back of the screen includes some simple RGB lighting, a mouse anchor and a headphone hook. There’s even a phone support on the front of the base.
This model is available now at a price of $1499.99 or equivalent from Amazon in most regions (affiliate link)

ViewSonic Elite XG272-2K specs
The ViewSonic XG272-2K is 27″ in size and has a 2560 x 1440 resolution IPS panel and a very high 400Hz refresh rate. This is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR from NVIDIA and AMD systems, and it carried the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium Pro’ and NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ certifications. In other specs there is a 1ms G2G response time and 400 nits brightness.
Connectivity includes DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0 (so not enough to run 1440p at 400Hz from a PC) and USB type-C with DP Alt mode and 90W power delivery. There are also some USB data ports and a headphone jack.
It’s not expected to go on sale until Q4 2023, more information when we get it.
