Samsung Unveil Odyssey S40FG75 with a 40″ Ultrawide VA Panel, 5K2K Resolution and 180Hz Refresh Rate

Samsung have launched a new model in their gaming G7 series, which was displayed at this years Gamescom. The S40FG75 is a 40” ultrawide screen featuring a VA LCD panel with a 1000R curvature, 5120 x 2160 “5K2K” resolution and 180Hz refresh rate. This offers an alternative size to the S37FG75 model which is 32” in size with a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio.

Samsung S40FG75 Specs

This screen is 40” in size (39.5” accurately) and built around a VA technology LCD panel, with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 1000R curvature. It offers a “5K2K” (5120 x 2160) resolution, 140 PPI pixel density, 1ms GTG response time spec, 3000:1 contrast ratio, 350 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and an extended colour gamut covering 90% of the DCI-P3 and 99% of the sRGB colour spaces.

The 180Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR from compatible systems, with certification granted under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium Pro’ scheme. For HDR the screen has been certified under the VESA DisplayHDR 600 tier, with the screen offering some edge-lit local dimming and a peak brightness of 600 nits. HDR10 and HDR+ formats are supported on this monitor too. In addition the screen comes equipped with CoreSync and CoreLighting+ RGB lighting.

Like the S37FG75 model, other features include Flicker-Free, Eye Saver Mode, Black Equaliser, Virtual AIM Point and Super Arena Gaming UX. It also offers Auto Switch+ so your monitor can detect when connected devices are turned on and instantly switches to the new source rather than having to search through multiple inputs.
Connectivity
For connectivity there is 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 2x HDMI 2.1 connections and 2x USB Type-A 3.2 data ports. There is also a headphone jack and PiP/PbP support for handling multiple devices.
