LG Display Tease New Tandem WOLED Panel Sizes and Specs for 2026

In a short promotional video for their latest Primary RGB Tandem WOLED panels, LG Display have teased the forthcoming development of some new panel sizes and specs that we’ve discussed in our roadmaps in the past, but which now appear to be ready for mass production. We hope to see more info on both of these interesting new panel options at CES in January, where LG Display will have a showcase set up. With the panels ready for mass production, it’s also possible we will see some monitor announcements featuring them. Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date throughout CES!
‘Tandem WOLED’, and Perhaps a Version 2.0?

LG Display are shortening the naming scheme it seems for their 4th Gen WOLED technology from ‘Primary RGB Tandem’ to simply ‘Tandem WOLED’. Note they also have a different ‘Tandem OLED’ technology which is used in other sectors like automotive, which has a different panel structure. Tandem WOLED will continue to be used in the monitor segment at this time it seems, based on this initial promotional video.

Within the video there is also mention of “Primary RGB Tandem 2.0”, which seems a little odd given elsewhere they’ve just referred to it as “Tandem WOLED”, but which also seems to tease an evolution in the technology and an updated, and presumably improved, version 2.0. More info on what this entails when we get it.
Benefits of Tandem WOLED
The video covers all the usually listed benefits of their latest WOLED technology, something we’ve explored in detail in the past. If you want to know more, check out our full article here.

New Panels for 2026

Of particular interest is the very brief mention of a couple of new monitor panels that have so far not been officially confirmed by LG Display, but which have been rumoured on the roadmap for some time.

They start by referencing the 27″ 1440p 540Hz panel (with dual-mode 720Hz) that we already know about, and which has been featured in several announced monitors, including the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W which we’ve already reviewed.

They go on then to reference a new 39″ ultrawide panel with a “5K” resolution, which should be their new 5K2K (5120 x 2160) resolution panel we’ve been eagerly waiting for. With a 5K2K resolution on a screen size of 39″, this will give a pixel density of ~142 PPI, very similar to the 31.5″ 4K panels already available.
[Updated] We’ve now also confirmed with LG Display that this will be a ‘Tandem WOLED’ panel (previously known as 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem) and will have a 1500 nits peak brightness (1.5% APL) and True Black 500 certification.
It’s not possible to confirm 100% confirm at this stage, but the video does also imply that this has a more subtle curve than the previous 800R of their 34″ and 39″ panels, and indeed their 45″ ultrawide 5K2K panel released in 2025. That would be great news as the screen size starts to get smaller, as the 800R curvature of their previous panels is very steep.

Last up was mention of a 27″ UltraHD (3840 x 2160 “4K”) panel, an option that’s already widely available from competing Samsung Display QD-OLED panels, but which would be a first for LG Display and their WOLED technology. LG Display have since published an official press release about this new option, which will also offer a true RGB-stripe pixel layout. You can find loads more information about that here.
Expected specs
No further details are provided on specs for these new 39″ ultrawide and 27″ 4K panels, but given the rest of the video content we’d expect specs like a 0.02ms G2G response time, 99.5% DCI-P3 colour gamut, DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification and a peak luminance of 1500 nits. Expect the other benefits of their 4th Gen Tandem WOLED technology to apply as well. Refresh rates are not listed at the moment for either, nor is dual-mode support. More info on specs when we have it.
