Gigabyte Unveil the MO34WQC36 with a 34″ 360Hz Ultrawide 5th Gen QD-OLED Panel

As part of CES this week, Gigabyte have unveiled their new MO34WQC36 monitor. It’s a 34” ultrawide screen built around Samsung Displays brand-new 5th-Gen QD-OLED panel technology with a 3440 x 1440 resolution and 360Hz refresh rate which we’ve seen and tested recently in competing models from MSI and Asus. This includes a range of updates including for the first time, a true RGB-stripe sub-pixel layout to improve text clarity, a new coating which improves black depth and scratch resistance, and increased SDR and HDR brightness.

5th Gen QD-OLED Panel and ‘ObsidianShield’ film
We are especially exciting to see Samsung Display’s new 5th-Gen Tandem QD-OLED panel technology being utilised in this model as part of their 2026 panel line-up. Note that Samsung Display don’t like to refer to their panels by generation any more, but there are significant changes here which warrant this ‘Gen 5’ naming scheme which we’ve used.
This features for the first time a true RGB stripe pixel arrangement (which Samsung Display are calling “V-stripe”), enhancing the image and text clarity and eliminating fringing issues that have impacted earlier QD-OLED monitor panels.

The screen also includes what Gigabyte are referring to as a ‘ObsidianShield’ film and optimised panel structure which helps deliver deeper blacks in brighter room conditions and reduce the purple tint that impacts older panels. This is actually a coating applied by Samsung Display at the panel level, with the ‘ObsidianShield’ being Gigabyte’s branding name for it – much like Asus are calling it ‘BlackShield Film’ and MSI are calling it ‘DarkArmor’ for their equivalent monitors.
The panel hardness has also increased from 2H to 3H, offering better scratch resistance and durability. This new coating also features on their recently announced 32″ QD-OLED monitor for 2026, although note that those models did not have the new V-stripe / RGB stripe sub-pixel layout.

The new 5th Gen QD-OLED panel also offers enhanced brightness thanks to the use of their latest EL 3.0 OLED material (also featured on their 4th Gen panels), with a 300 nits SDR luminance and True Black 500 certification for HDR. It also includes for the first time an increased peak brightness spec of 1300 nits in HDR.
Gigabyte MO34WQC36 Specs
This is a 34” ultrawide QD-OLED panel featuring a subtle 1800R curvature. It has a UWQHD resolution (3440 x 1440), 0.03ms G2G response time spec, 21:9 aspect ratio, 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, 300 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space.

The 360Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for variable refresh rates from compatible systems. Gigabyte’s OLED VRR anti-flicker modes are also included.

The new 5th-Gen QD-OLED panel offers updated HDR capabilities with certification under the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 tier and a peak brightness spec of 1300 nits (with 3% APL). Gigabyte say that the new screen will feature their brand new ‘HyperNits’ technology, which increases brightness levels by up to 30% in the High mode and 20% in the Medium mode.
Connectivity
For connectivity there are 2x HDMI 2.1, 1x DisplayPort 2.1a (“full bandwidth” so should be UHBR20) and 1x USB Type-C connection (with DP Alt mode and 18W power delivery). In addition, there are 2x USB-A data ports, a KVM switch function and a headphone jack along with some simple 2x 3W integrated speakers for sound.
