BenQ have this week announced the unveiling of their newest additions to the award-winning DesignVue PD monitor series, which were showcased at the Adobe MAX 2024 event this week, a global creativity conference bringing together creators, developers, and technology partners to learn about Adobe products, discover new tools, and connect with other creatives. There’s the new 27″, 5K resolution PD2730S which is geared toward designers and content creators utilizing either Mac or PC platforms, as well as the new 31.5″, 4K PD3226G which features a slightly lower resolution but a higher refresh rate (144Hz), ideal for designers, illustrators, game developers, and content creators, especially those who create 3D creatures or draw their creations on a tablet.

A focus on colour accuracy

“BenQ has meticulously gathered feedback from professionals to design monitors that precisely meet their requirements with always accurate and consistent colors,” said Houston Wei, senior director of BenQ North America. “The new PD2730S and PD3226G were designed with both Mac and PC users in mind to provide unparalleled color features with invaluable new software including Display ColorTalk and Palette Master Ultimate.”

Exclusive to BenQ, Display ColorTalk ensures out-of-the-box colour accuracy and consistent colour reproduction across multiple BenQ displays. Additionally, the Palette Master Ultimate software now supports not only the BenQ SW Series but also the PD Series, providing long-term colour accuracy and colour consistency across displays. These tools ensure that users experience effortless colour matching across multiple displays, reducing the colour inconsistency that often hinders creative collaboration and elongates internal review processes, causing work inefficiency among creative studios or advertising agencies.

BenQ PD2730S Specs and Information

The new 5K PD2730S monitor features an impressive 5K (5120 x 2880) resolution, 218 PPI display, delivering detailed and vivid visuals. It’s built around an IPS technology panel with a 2000:1 contrast ratio, 400 nits brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 98% DCI-P3 and 100% sRGB.

The monitor’s colour accuracy is ensured with a Delta E ≤ 2 and includes an exclusive M-book mode for perfect Mac colour matching. To further enhance user experience, the PD2730S is equipped with Thunderbolt 4 technology, supporting daisy chain and Keyboard, Video, and Mouse (KVM) functionality, making it easier for users to manage multiple devices with a single setup. This screen also offers ‘iKeyboard’ control for ultimate convenience in adjusting brightness and speaker volume via MacBook Pro keyboards, as well as ergonomic adjustments. Additionally there are DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 connections available. Further specs can be found on their product page here.

Nano Matte Panels

Additionally, the PD2730S also features the BenQ-exclusive new Nano Matte Panel, which reduces screen glare and reflected light while maintaining high-visual quality. They say that this has been “implemented across its entire product line— [and is] an exclusive technology that reduces screen glare and reflections, redefining the capabilities of modern monitors.”

Enhanced with anti-glare and low-reflection features, these panels add an additional protective layer on top of the anti-glare coating, reducing the reflection rate to below 3% they say.

On some models in their monitor range they also offer Nano Matte Pro Panels, which divides the low-reflection layer into multiple thin layers, meticulously stacked to achieve an exceptionally low reflection rate of less than 1%. This advanced structure, combined with anti-glare and anti-reflective properties, provides a paper-like feel and significantly reduces reflections by refracting ambient light, effectively cancelling out reflections from the film substrate.
