Asus ROG Strix XG27UCDMG Launched with a 27″ 4K 240Hz QD-OLED Panel

Following on from the ROG Swift PG27UCDM which we reviewed back in January, Asus have launched a new QD-OLED gaming monitor in their ROG Strix range. The ROG Strix OLED XG27UCDMG provides a lot of the same features as the PG27UCDM at a more reasonable price including the latest 4th Gen Samsung Display QD OLED panel in the same 27” size, 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) and 240Hz refresh rate. One of the key differences is that it features a DisplayPort 1.4 connection (with DSC) whereas the PG27UCDM model featured full-speed DisplayPort 2.1. Both can power the screen fine anyway.

Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27UCDMG Specs
The screen is 26.5” in size (27” class) with a flat format and 16.9 aspect ratio. It offers a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution, ~166 PPI, with a response time spec of 0.03ms G2G, a 240Hz refresh rate, 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, 250 nits SDR brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, a native 10-bit colour depth and supports a wide colour gamut covering 99% of the DCI-P3 and 145% of the sRGB colour spaces.
The 240Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR and includes certification under the AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, NVIDIA G-sync Compatible and VESA AdaptiveSync schemes. It also offers OLED anti-flicker 2.0 modes for helping to mitigate VRR flicker.
It supports HDR10 content only, doing away with the Dolby Vision HDR support that the PG27UCDM model offers. It is certified under the VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black scheme again though and has a peak brightness spec of 1000 nits for HDR as well.

The Asus OLED Care Pro features includes a number of settings to help protect and extend the life of the panel and it includes a custom heatsink for cooling, and neo-proximity sensor which automatically turns the screen off when you move away from it. It comes with a 3-year warranty which includes burn-in cover too for peace of mind.
A familiar range of Asus gaming options and features are included, and the screen supports PiP/PbP modes as well as a KVM switch function. The stand offers tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments, and has a camera mount connection at the top of the stand, and a mobile phone holder slot in the base for convenience.

Connectivity
For connectivity there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4 input with Display Stream Compression (DSC) and 2x HDMI 2.1 ports. As we said earlier the removal of the DisplayPort 2.1 port is one of the key differences with this ROG Strix model compared with the ROG Swift PG27UCDM model. There’s also 3x USB data ports and 1x USB Type C port with DP Alt mode and 90W power delivery, as well as a headphone jack.
Pricing and availability
The screen is now available on Amazon and Best Buy from $979.99 USD. You can check out our review of the PG27UCDM model here as well.
