AOC AGON AG485UD2 Announced in China with 48″ OLED Panel and 138Hz
AOC China have unveiled their new AGON AG485UD2 display, a large format 48″ OLED screen in competition with a pretty wide range of other similar options from other manufacturers and an update to their previous AG485UD display it seems. The AG485UD2 features a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution combined with a 138Hz overclocked refresh rate (120Hz native). There are other familiar OLED-related specs here like a 0.1ms G2G response time and 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, figures which should be pretty realistic given the OLED technology.
In other specs the screen offers a wide colour gamut covering 100% sRGB and 98.5% DCI-P3. AOC also list a 10-bit colour depth and 450 cd/m2 brightness (SDR) although keep in mind this will involve ABL. A full screen (100% APL) brightness of 135 cd/m2 was listed for the previous AG485UD but we have not seen the spec for the newer model yet. For HDR brightness the older version can apparently reach 900 nits (3% APL) but again we’ve not seen the spec for the new model. The per pixel dimming of the OLED panel should offer excellent HDR performance as well without any blooming or halos. It supports the HDR10 standard only.
The stand is more versatile than some other screens of this size with tilt, height and swivel offered, making it more suitable as a desktop monitor if you can live with the very large screen size.
For video connections there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.1 and 1x HDMI 2.0 provided along with 4x USB data ports and also a USB type-C which included DP Alt mode. HDMI 2.1 is mentioned as supporting 48 Gbps but other capabilities like HDMI-VRR and ALLM for instance are not listed. A KVM switch function is supported and there’s some typical Light FX RGB lighting on the back of the screen too. There are 2x 10W integrated speakers with DTS sound along with a headphone, mic in and mic out connection.
