Acer Unveil the Predator X27U F8 with a 27″ 540Hz OLED Panel and 720Hz Dual-mode Support

At IFA 2025 Acer have unveiled their new Predator X27U F8 gaming monitor, a 27″ sized screen with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, a 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem WOLED panel and a 540Hz native refresh rate. It’s an alternative to the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W we saw unveiled at Gamescom a couple of weeks ago, offering a range of high-end features and specs for the gaming OLED market.
Acer Predator X27U F8 Specs

The screen is 26.5″ in size (27″ class) with a flat format. It has a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 0.03ms G2G response time spec, 335 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, a 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% DCI-P3. The screen comes factory calibrated with a dE <1.
The high native 540Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR, including certification under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium Pro’ scheme. The dual-mode function allows you to switch down to a lower HD resolution of 1280 x 720, but boost your refresh rate up to a massive 720Hz for certain gaming situations if you want.
Unlike Asus’ model, the Acer X27U F8 will have a matte anti-glare coating instead of glossy.
HDR certification
Acer list certification under the VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black tier on one product page but elsewhere they list True Black 500. It should be the latter given the use of a new 4th Gen WOLED panel that meets these specs. It should offer a peak brightness of 1500 nits (1.5% APL) and 600 nits at 10% APL.
Connectivity and other features

Connectivity is listed on their linked product page as offering 1x DisplayPort 1.4, but this is an error given that 1440p @ 540Hz, 10-bit is beyond the bandwidth limits for DP 1.4 even when using DSC. You actually need DisplayPort 2.1 to support this spec, so either it will actually feature a DP 2.1 connection of some sort (any tier, they will all need DSC anyway), or there will need to be sacrifices to the image in some way to fit within DP 1.4 – likely dropping to 8-bit colour depth or something. The Acer press release confirms the screen will feature DisplayPort 2.1, although UHBR tier is not available – not that it matters, you’d need DSC even with UHBR20 for 1440p @ 540Hz, 10-bit.
Other connectivity options listed include 2x HDMI 2.1 and 1x USB type-C (with DP Alt mode, data and 90W power delivery). A built in KVM switch function also features. 2x USB data ports and an audio output are expected as well, with the screen also offering integrated 2x 5W speakers. The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.

Pricing and availability
The screen is expected to be released in Q1 2026 at a price of $1,299 USD in the US, or a littler later in Q2 apparently in Europe at a price of €1,199 Euro or £1,099 GBP in the UK.
