HP Release Omen X25 and X25f with G-sync/FreeSync and 240Hz Refresh

HP have announced this week the launch of two new gaming monitors in their Omen range. The two screens are both 24.5″ in size and feature a 1920 x 1080 resolution TN Film panel, combined with 1ms G2G response time and a 240Hz native refresh rate. The X25 is a G-sync display with the hardware G-sync module being used, while the X25f is aimed at AMD FreeSync users, but will also feature some level of G-sync support thanks to NVIDIA’s Jan 2019 driver update.

HP have partnered with Blizzard, with these Omen monitors now the official monitors of the Overwatch League. The screens have a 3-side borderless design (called “micro edge” by HP) and there’s an ambient lighting system on the base of the panel.

Spec-wise the screens feature a 1920 x 1080 resolution TN Film panel. There is a 1ms G2G response time quoted (with overdrive on) / 3ms (overdrive off), 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 170/160 viewing angles. Only tilt adjustment for the stand is listed on the HP spec page for the f model, although various news reports online also mention a 100mm height adjustment.

The X25 (G-sync) has 1x DisplayPort 1.2 and 1x HDMI 1.4 connections as well as a 2 port USB 3.0 hub. This is limited by the user of the v1 G-sync module. The X25f (FreeSync) has the same 1x DisplayPort 1.2 and two USB 3.0 ports, but has 2x HDMI 2.0 ports instead of the single HDMI 1.4 on the G-sync version.

The X25 (G-sync) is expected to be available in Europe in June at a price of €630 ($550), and will reportedly be available in the US around September. The X25f on the other hand is expected to be available in June in both regions (early in the US, late in Europe) at a slightly lower price of €460 ($450 USD).
