Gigabyte MO27U2 Launched with 27″ 4K 240Hz QD-OLED Panel and a Range of New Gaming Features

Briefly announced back in January at CES 2025, Gigabyte have now launched the product page for their new MO27U2 monitor, a 27″ QD-OLED monitor with a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. It’s a competing model to options like the Asus ROG Swift PG27UCDM that we’ve already reviewed, and the MSI MPG 271URX that we saw back in December and will be reviewing in full soon. This new screen offers a higher pixel density than models that have been released in the past in the OLED market, with 166 PPI.

Gigabyte MO27U2 Specs

The screen is 26.5″ in size (27″ class) with a flat format and 16:9 aspect ratio. It features a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution, 0.03ms G2G response time, 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, 250 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% DCI-P3.

It’s based around a 4th Gen Samsung Display QD-OLED panel produced in 2025, and you can find loads more information about the latest QD-OLED panels and developments in our article/video here. The high ~166 PPI pixel density offers a super-sharp and crisp image, helping to eliminate any lingering text clarity problems with modern QD-OLED panels as well.

Refresh Rate and VRR

The 240Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR with certification under the NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ and AMD ‘FreeSync Premium Pro’ schemes. Gigabyte mention an “OLED VRR Anti-flicker” feature, which seems to offer a way to restrict the VRR range to help reduce visible flicker. We explained anti-flicker approaches on OLED panels in our recent article here if you want to know more.

Black Frame Insertion available

Interestingly, Gigabyte have also added a Black Frame Insertion (BFI) feature to this new screen, which they’ve dubbed “Ultra Clear Technology”. This can help reduce motion blur and improve motion clarity in certain gaming situations. Until now, only Asus have offered a BFI feature on their OLED monitors so it’s nice to see this available on alternative brands too. There’s no information in the user manual for the screen unfortunately, but we assume this will operate at a maximum 120Hz, and in a similar way to the Asus PG27UCDM.

HDR capabilities

Being an OLED screen it is well suited to HDR, with basically infinite contrast ratio, perfect blacks and per pixel level dimming. There is a typical 1000 nits peak brightness (3% APL) and the screen meets the VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification. Gigabyte mention that it has an adjustable HDR 1000 mode as well.

Connectivity options and features

For connectivity there is 1x DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC (not the DP 2.1 UHBR20 connection that the competing Asus and MSI models offer), as well as 2x HDMI 2.1 and 1x USB type-C (with DP Alt mode, 18W power delivery). There are also 2x USB data ports, a mic input and a headphone jack. The screen also includes 2x 5W integrated speakers and the stand provides a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.

The screen is offered with a 3 year warranty that includes burn-in cover as well for peace of mind and includes a wide range of OLED care and panel cooling technologies. This includes a fan-less design with a custom heatsink and graphene film panel.
