Dell UltraSharp U2720Q with 27″ 4K IPS Panel and Wide Colour Gamut

Dell have announced for this year’s CES event the new 27″ UltraSharp U2720Q – not to be confused with the similarly named UP2720Q which is in their UltraSharp Premium range. The U2720Q is focused on offering “true, superior colour” and improved productivity, and offers an IPS panel with wide colour gamut and a 4K resolution. It also features a borderless design ideal for multi-monitor setups.

The 27″ screen offers a 3840 x 2160 resolution IPS technology panel with 8ms G2G response time (5ms in Fast mode), 60Hz refresh rate, 1300:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness and 178/178 viewing angles. The colour capabilities are a big marketing point here for Dell and the screen offers 95% DCI-P3 gamut coverage, equating to around 125% of the sRGB gamut. A 1.07b colour depth is also supported. The screen comes factory calibrated with a dE <2 as well in the sRGB emulation mode that’s available in the OSD menu.

Oddly Dell list the VESA DisplayHDR 400 logo on the press material which surely cannot be supported with the 350 cd/m2 brightness spec, unless there is also an additional 400cd/m2+ peak brightness spec for HDR content. Regardless, you probably all know our feelings about HDR400 by now and its basically meaningless certification.

There is single cable connectivity available via the USB type-C interface, delivering up to 90W of power as well. There are also DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, 3x USB downstream ports, 1x USB type-C downstream port and an audio output jack available. The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.

The UltraSharp U2720Q will be available 30th January 2020 at a price of $709.99 USD.
