Asus ROG Swift PG32UQ with 32″ IPS Panel, 4K, 144Hz and HDMI 2.1
Asus’ Republic of Gamers (ROG) CES 2021 press event has taken place today and they have announced some details of various monitor developments. The first is their new ROG Swift PG32UQ display which is 32″ in size, with a 3840 x 2160 (4K) resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. It will also offer HDMI 2.1 connectivity for the latest generation of consoles and graphics cards.
The screen is 32″ in size and features an IPS-type panel. This offers a 3840 x 2160 (4K) resolution, 1ms MPRT response time, 144Hz refresh rate. The screen supports adaptive sync and so offers VRR support from both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. Certification under the NVIDIA G-sync Compatible scheme is in progress according to Asus.
Asus also promote the addition of “variable overdrive”, like we saw included on the recently reviewed PG329Q as well. This is usually reserved only for Native G-sync module screens so it’s nice to see continued focus on including this from Asus.
The screen will also feature Asus’ ELMB-sync technology for simultaneous blur reduction and VRR. It is also certified to the VESA DisplayHDR 600 standard. This should mean there is some form of local dimming along with 10-bit colour depth support and wide gamut with a 98% DCI-P3 coverage (160% sRGB) quoted. The screen also comes factory calibrated with a dE <2.
For connectivity there is 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (with DSC which allows it to support up to 4K @ 144 Hz visuals via a single DisplayPort 1.4 connection) provided along with 2x HDMI 2.1 connections. The latter will support HDMI-org VRR for consoles, along with features like ALLM while of course allowing for 4K @ 120Hz.
According to the Asus press release sent out after the event, it will be available at the end of the first quarter of 2021.
