Asus ROG Strix XG259QNS Launched with 24.5″ IPS Panel and 380Hz Refresh Rate for Gamers

Asus have recently released the product page for a new eSports gaming screen in their popular monitor range. Part of the ROG Strix line-up, the XG259QNS is 24.5″ in size and offers a 1920 x 1080 resolution Fast IPS technology panel, with a maximum 380Hz overclocked refresh rate. It’s aimed clearly at serious and competitive gaming, with a range of specs and features for that audience who might still prefer a smaller screen size, and a lower 1080p resolution so that they can focus on driving frame rates.
Asus ROG Strix XG259QNS Specs
The screen is 24.5″ in size and built around a ‘Fast IPS’ panel. It has a 1920 x 1080 resolution, 0.3ms G2G minimum response time (take this with a pinch of salt on an LCD!), 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 nits brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 16.7m colour depth and a slightly extended colour gamut which covers ~110% of the sRGB colour space.
The high 380Hz maximum refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for variable refresh rates (VRR) from compatible AMD and NVIDIA systems. It’s been certified under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ and VESA ‘AdaptiveSync 380’ schemes.
Asus’ “ELMB-sync” technology is also included allowing you to use a strobing blur reduction backlight mode at the same time as VRR if you want. There’s also a range of gaming extras including ROG Gaming Artificial Intelligence technology which integrates Dynamic shadow boost, Variable OD and Dynamic cross hair to enhance user experience in gaming.
Other features

Asus have even included a mobile phone socket in the base so your can place your cell phone right in front of you that you don’t miss out any messages. And a ¼-inch tripod socket on the monitor stand allows users to mount a camera or additional display for streaming setup.

For connectivity there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0 connections for video, along with 2x USB data ports and a headphone jack. The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.
