Acer Nitro XV272U X with World’s First 240Hz IPS Panel and 2560 x 1440 Resolution Combined

Information about the first 240Hz IPS monitor with a 2560 x 1440 resolution has now appeared online. The 27″ Acer Nitro XV272U X will be the first to take that step beyond the common 1080p resolution while using an IPS technology panel. It offers a 2560 x 1440 resolution, and also supports adaptive sync for variable refresh rates from both AMD and NVIDIA systems.

While there are many 240Hz models available in the market nowadays, available in TN Film, IPS and even VA technologies, there have only been a small number released that offer that higher resolution. In fact there’s only been 3 which are all TN Film models, the AOC AGON AG273QZ (which we recently reviewed), Lenovo Legion Y27gq and HP Omen X 27. The IPS and VA 240Hz models arrived quite a bit later and so far have been limited to 1080p. This will be the first IPS model with 240Hz and 2560 x 1440 offered.

Spec wise the 27″ XV272U X offers a 2560 x 1440 resolution IPS panel (AHVA from AU Optronics), 1ms G2G advertised response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 8-bit+FRC colour depth and a wide gamut backlight offering 99% Adobe RGB coverage.

The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments. There are 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x USB type-C, 4x USB 3.0 and a headphone jack provided. There are also some basic 2x 2W integrated speakers.

The screen is listed on Chinese retail website Taobao for ~5500 Chinese Yuan (around $770 USD) with availability expected early August. More information on other regional releases and price when we get it.
