Samsung ViewFinity S80HF Launched with 27″ 5K Resolution IPS Panel
Samsung Electronics have announced the arrival of a second monitor in their ViewFinity S8 range of professional screens. The Samsung ViewFinity S80HF is a 27″ sized IPS panel with a 5120 x 2880 “5K” resolution and 60Hz refresh rate aimed at productivity and general applications. This follows on from the 40″ S85TH model which was also launched this month.
Samsung ViewFinity S80HF Specs
This screen is 27” in size with a flat format and is built around an IPS LCD technology panel. It features a 5120 x 2880 resolution, ‘Retina class’ 218 PPI pixel density, 5ms G2G response time spec, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth offering 1.07 billion colours and a standard colour gamut covering 99% of the sRGB colour space. HDR capabilities are very limited with no local dimming and there’s just standard support for HDR10 content inputs.
There is a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments available and Eye Saver Mode and Flicker-free technologies help reduce eye strain and fatigue during those long working periods.
Other noteworthy features include Auto Switch+ so your monitor can detect when connected devices are turned on and instantly switches to the new source rather than having to search through multiple inputs, and Samsung Display Manager which allows you to customise your set-up directly from your PC, replacing the need for physical buttons.
Connectivity
Connectivity options are extensive and include 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.1 and USB Type-C (with DP Alt Mode and 90W power delivery). It also offers a KVM switch function and PiP/PbP support for handling multiple devices. In addition, there are USB Type-A and B ports, a RJ45 ethernet port and a headphone jack.
Availability and pricing
The Samsung ViewFinity S80HF has only appeared in some regions in Europe and Asia, with news of further availability still awaited.
