Philips 40B1U5600 and 40B1U5601H with 40″ Ultrawide Panels and USB Type-C Connectivity

Philips have this week announced two new monitors in their professional-focused range featuring an unusual size and resolution combination. The Philips 40B1U5600 and 40B1U5601H are 40″ in size with an ultrawide format, 21:9 aspect ratio and 3440 x 1440 resolution. This is usually found on smaller 34 – 35″ sized panels, so this is offering a slightly larger screen size option for those who want something a little bigger. The screens have a range of productivity enhancing features including USB type-C, a KVM switch and 5MP integrated webcam (40B1U5601H model only).
Philips 40B1U5600 and 40B1U5601H Specs
Specs are largely identical between the two screens but there’s some extra features on the H model, discussed in a moment. Both are 40″ in size and built on IPS-type panels and offer a 3440 x 1440 resolution. In other specs there is a 4ms G2G response time, 1200:1 contrast ratio, 500 cd/m2 brightness (300 on the H model), 178/178 viewing angles, 8-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering ~121% sRGB / 102% NTSC. The screens come factory calibrated with dE <2, and also support 120Hz max refresh rate with adaptive-sync VRR.
For connectivity the screens feature USB type-C (with DP Alt mode and 100W power delivery). There are also 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 1x HDMI 2.0 connections provided for video. The “MultiClient” integrated KVM switch, users can control two separate PCs with one monitor-keyboard-mouse set-up, conveniently switching between sources. PiP and PbP modes are also supported. There are 4x USB data ports and also an additional USB C port with data and 15W power delivery (not video). For audio the screens have some basic 2 x 5W integrated speakers, along with an audio output and a headphone hook on the screen. The stand offers tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.

Extra Features on the 40B1U5601H
The H model also features DisplayPort out for simple daisy chaining while . Also included on this model is an RJ45 Ethernet port for docking purposes and the audio connection acts as audio out/mic input as a combo jack.
The 40B1U5601H also offers the added benefit of a built-in 5MP webcam with Windows Hello facial recognition and noise-cancelling mic for clear and secure communications when working from home or collaborating remotely.
Pricing and Availability
The Philips 40B1U5600 has been available for purchase since December 2022 at the price of £649.99 and is available in some regions from Amazon already (affiliate referral link), and the 40B1U5601H will be available from mid-January 2023 at £739.99.
