Lenovo ThinkVision P40WD-40 Announced with 40″ Ultrawide IPS “5K2K” Panel and Thunderbolt 4

Lenovo have revealed a new screen in their ThinkVision line-up aimed at professional users. As showcased at the IFA exhibition in Berlin last month, the P40WD-40 offers a 40″ ultrawide display with an IPS Black LCD panel featuring a 5120 x 2160 “5K2K” resolution. It has a subtle 2500R curvature and an array of productivity and connectivity features including Thunderbolt 4 and USB type-C amongst others.

The screen is 40″ in size (39.7″ accurate) and has a 5120 x 2160 “5K2K” resolution IPS panel, 140 PPI pixel density, 21:9 aspect ratio, 4ms G2G min response time spec, 2000:1 contrast ratio, 400 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, a 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 98% of the DCI-P3 and 99% of the sRGB colour spaces. It also offers a factory calibrated Delta E<2 accuracy too. While the screen only supports up to 120Hz maximum refresh rate, adaptive-sync is supported for limited VRR range of 24 – 120Hz.

Flicker-free and Low Blue Blight technologies, including certification under TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Blight and TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort 5 star, help to ensure a more comfortable viewing experience. The screen offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments so you can adjust the screen for your optimum viewing position.

Connectivity
For connectivity there are inputs for: 1x HDMI 2.1, 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x Thunderbolt 4 (with 40Gbps data transfer, DP Alt mode and 140W power delivery). There’s also 1x Thunderbolt 4 output (with 15W power delivery) and 1x DisplayPort output for daisy chaining.
There are also 2x USB Type-C data ports (with 15W power delivery) and 5x USB-A ports available, as well as a headphone jack, built in stereo speakers for multimedia (5W x 2) and an Ethernet RJ45 connection (2.5 Gbps). PiP/PbP modes will be supported to handle multiple inputs and it will also feature a KVM function.
It will also features Lenovo’s patented True Split technology which divides a single screen into multiple virtual screens allowing users to control and view content from two separate PC’s at the same time on one display.
Availability and pricing
The P40WD-40 is expected to be available to buy in the US from November at a cost of $2,182 USD according to some sources, with it set to reach global markets in December with an anticipated retail price of €1,499.
