AOC Q27G3XMN Announced with 27″ 1440p VA Panel, 180Hz and 336-zone FALD Backlight
Originally published 19 August 2023, last updated 22 November 2023
AOC have now formally announced, in further regions outside of China, their new Q27G3XMN monitor, a 27″ sized screen with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and 180Hz refresh rate, but also (rarely in the VA panel market) with a 336-zone FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) backlight. This brings some decent HDR dimming capabilities to a more affordable mid-range model, and to the VA market which until now hasn’t had a huge amount of FALD / Mini LED backlight attention. This has also been released at a very attractive price point.

AOC Q27G3XMN Specs
The screen is 27″ in size with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio (flat format). There is a 1ms G2G quoted response time, 4000:1 contrast ratio, 450 cd/m2 brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 96% DCI-P3 (~134% sRGB). Factory calibration with a dE < 2 is also listed. The 180Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR from compatible NVIDIA and AMD systems, and includes NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ certification apparently.
VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified
For HDR the screen”s 336-zone FALD backlight supports peak brightness up to 1000 nits, and so combined with the wide colour gamut and 10-bit colour depth support it meets the VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification tier.
Connections and adjustments
The screen offers 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0 video connections along with an audio output. The stand offers tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.
Pricing and availability
The new screen will be available for purchase from late November/early December 2023, at an MSRP of £349.99 in the UK which makes it extremely competitively priced for a Mini LED backlit monitor. It’s available already in the US from Amazon too.
