Acer Predator X27U F3 Announced for Computex 2024 with a 27″ 480Hz OLED Panel
Announced for Computex 2024 is the new Acer Predator X27U F3, a 27″ sized OLED gaming monitor with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and a very high 480Hz refresh rate. It provides a competing option to the already announced Asus ROG Swift PG27AQDP that was announced by Asus in January at CES 2024. This super-high refresh rate is aimed at high-end gaming, offering exceptional motion clarity and support for very high frame rates where your system and game allow it.
Acer Predator X27U F3 Specs
The screen is built around LG.Display’s new 480Hz WOLED panel, and offers a flat format, 2560 x 1440 resolution, 0.03ms G2G response time spec, 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, 275 nits typical brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, a 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% of the DCI-P3 reference space. The screen will have a standard matte anti-glare screen coating by the way.
The high 480Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for variable refresh rates (VRR) from compatible systems, with the screen being certified under the AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ schemes.
For HDR the OLED panel offers the usual per-pixel level dimming, true blacks and basically infinite contrast ratio (subject to ambient lighting conditions). Acer list a peak brightness spec of 1300 nits (1.5% APL).
Connectivity and other features
For connectivity the X27U F3 has 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (with DSC), 1x USB type-C connectivity (with DP Alt mode, data and 90W power delivery) and 2x HDMI 2.1 ports (capabilities not listed). A tripod mount socket on the monitor stand allowing gamers and streamers to attach accessories such as a webcam or screen light. 2x USB ports and an audio output are also offered.
For maximum comfort, the new monitor offers adjustable tilt, swivel, and height, allowing gamers to find the perfect viewing angle for any environment. It also comes with modest 2x 5W integrated speakers, and a built-in KVM switch to effortlessly switch between two PCs with a single keyboard and mouse setup. With eye comfort in mind, the screen features ‘BlueLightShield Pro’, flickerless, low-dimming, and ‘ComfyView’ technologies to help prevent eye fatigue.
OLED Care
Acer has also implemented several OLED screen protection mechanisms to help extend the monitor’s lifespan and maintain image quality; Display Saver (always on) for automatic dimming when the screen is inactive, Constant Brightness (which seems to be a uniform brightness mode), plus Image Retention Refresh and Screen Move (always on) to minimize stuck pixels and images.
Pricing and Availability
The Predator X27U F3 will be available in North America in Q3, starting at USD $1,199.99; in EMEA in Q3, starting at EUR 1,199, and in China in Q3, starting at RMB 6,999.
