Acer have showcased at this week’s IFA 2019 event in Berlin a new 24.5″ sized display in their Nitro gaming lineup, the XV253QX with a 1920 x 1080 resolution IPS panel and 240Hz native refresh rate. This accompanies the 27″ XV273X model we have already brought out news about previously.

Spec wise the screen is 24.5″ in size and offers a 1920x 1080 resolution IPS-type panel (from AU Optronics). It has a 1ms advertised G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 8-bit colour depth and sRGB gamut. Take the response time spec with a pinch of salt. Acer’s Visual Response Boost (VRB) is also listed in the press release for motion blur reduction benefits.

The 240Hz refresh rate is supported with adaptive-sync, giving compatibility with both NVIDIA and AMD systems, including certification under the “G-sync Compatible” scheme. HDR400 certification is included, although at the moment that does not require any local dimming so will not offer any meaningful performance, especially considering the screen also lacks the enhanced gamut or colour depth to improve colours as well in HDR content.

Our friends over at pcmonitors.info had a chance to see the new screens at IFA and even do some pursuit camera testing of the 24.5″ model which gives an indication of expected performance – looks pretty good to be fair!

The stand offers tilt and swivel adjustments and there are DisplayPort, 2x HDMI 2.0 and 4x USB 3.0 connections offered along with a headphone jack and 2x 2W speakers.

The Acer Nitro XV253Q X will be available in EMEA in Q1 2020 starting at £349 but apparently will be available sooner in Nov 2019 in the US at $389.
