AOC AGON Pro AG276QZD2 Showcased at Gamescom with a 27″ 240Hz QD-OLED Panel

At Gamescom this week in Cologne, Germany we had a chance to see the newly announced AOC AGON Pro AG276QZD2 monitor. This is a follow on from the previously released AG276QZD model, with AOC offering a Samsung Display QD-OLED technology panel now in the new model, instead of the WOLED panel in the previous. This gives users a wider choice of panel technology, and this is an interesting option in the 27″ market given the majority of 27″ QD-OLED monitors available offer a 360Hz refresh rate. AOC’s approach is to offer a more modest spec here, in an effort to make OLED panels more accessible to the mainstream, helping to drive down pricing and offer something more affordable too.

Specifications and features

That’s not to say that this new screen doesn’t have an impressive spec. It’s still part of the company’s top-tier AOC gaming monitor line up, under their AGON Pro banner. The screen is 27″ in size with a flat format and offers a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 0.03ms G2G response time, 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99.3% of DCI-P3. The screen also conforms to the VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black tier, and offers modes for TB400 and a peak 1000 mode which delivers up to 1000 nits peak brightness (low APL % scenes).

Being a QD-OLED panel this time, the screen offers the standard semi-glossy screen coating that many people prefer to the matte AG coating on WOLED panels. It also has the gen 3 sub-pixel layout for improved text clarity.

The screen includes a 2 port USB hub, fully adjustable stand and integrated 2x 5W speakers. For connectivity there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0 connections provided. PiP and PbP are supported. All AOC’s OLED monitors come with a 3 year warranty which includes burn-in cover too which is great news.

240Hz refresh rate

The 240Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for variable refresh rates from compatible systems. This is a lower refresh rate than the 360Hz QD-OLED 27″ models available, but driving 1440p @ 240Hz should be more achievable for those with less modern and powerful systems, or who don’t really need to push in to those kind of super-high refresh rates.
