As part of their Computex 2026 announcements, Asus have today announced their new ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace, the World’s first 24.5″ sized OLED gaming monitor! It’s a size and format that many people have been crying out for, finally offering a small screen size option in the OLED segment which is still very popular for competitive, professional and Esports gamers. Through their partnerships with BLAST and PGL, ROG collected feedback directly from top-tier professional gamers, enabling them to tailor the XG259QWPG Ace for esports pros.

The new screen has a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 540Hz refresh rate and is built around a brand new LG Display Tandem WOLED panel for 2026. It will also offer a ‘TrueBlack Glossy’ screen coating for a super sharp and clear image and is even certified under the VESA DisplayHDR 600 True Black tier, the first time we’ve seen a desktop OLED monitor reach this performance tier.

Asus ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace Specs

This new screen is 24.5″ in size, with a flat format. It has a 1920 x 1080 resolution (1080p), a 0.02ms G2G response times and a super-high 540Hz refresh rate. It’s been specifically engineered for professional esports gamers.

In other specs it offers a 90 PPI pixel density, a 350 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% DCI-P3, and the screen comes factory calibrated with dE < 2.

It will feature Asus’ ‘TrueBlack Glossy’ screen coating, giving a really sharp and clear image which is free from grain. We’ve seen this coating on several of their recent ROG monitors in the past, and you can find details and evaluation in our reviews (e.g. XG27AQWMG). Combined with the new Tandem WOLED panel it offers excellent black depth and contrast, even in brighter lit rooms.

Asus also talk about the new “Advanced thermal solution” for this screen which utilizes new materials to optimize heat dissipation and helps safeguard the OLED panel against burn-in over time. This features GaN FET in its power supply design to optimize heat dissipation. The result is apparently nearly 35% less waste heat at the hottest point in the system, and a 10% drop in vent temperature, achieving a longer OLED lifespan, and zero compromises on performance.

This is also supported by their comprehensive range of OLED Care Pro features and settings, including their Neo Proximity Sensor which also adds a new adjustable sensitivity setting and ‘Auto away timer’ for further control.

A new “Quick OSD Menu” feature allows gamers to simply adjust core screen settings quickly and easily. Plus, the three “Esports Color Settings” provide specialized visual profiles professionally tuned for elite competitive play.

VESA DisplayHDR 600 True Black certification

One other especially interesting spec for this new monitor is that it will be certified under the VESA DisplayHDR 600 True Black tier, the first desktop OLED monitor we’ve seen that achieves this tier.

That means an improved brightness in HDR with 600 nits for a 10% APL window and 350 nits for full screen white, 100% APL. That’s combined with the per-pixel level dimming, true blacks and basically infinite contrast ratio that OLED panels can offer, so this should be an impressive HDR experience.
