We originally provided some teaser information for this screen at the end of last year and we have eagerly been waiting for the official product page to appear on AOC’s website. It was initially anticipated to launch in January and as the weeks passed we started to wonder whether it was going to appear at all! We are pleased to confirm though that the wait is now over and we can finally bring you further information about this premier screen now it’s appeared on the AOC China website.

The AOC AGON PRO AGP277KX is a 27″ sized ‘Fast IPS’ LCD screen with a native 5120 x 2880 “5K” resolution. The refresh rate spec has marginally improved from what was originally teased and now stands at 180Hz native, rather than 165Hz, with support for a dual-mode function for 350Hz (rather than 330Hz) at 1440p.

We were unable to provide many of the other specs in December so we will aim to fill that void now.

This 27″ ‘Fast IPS’ screen boasts an impressive 5K resolution, 218 PPI pixel density, 1ms G2G response time spec (0.3ms MPRT), 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% of the DCI-P3 and 100% of the sRGB colour spaces. It also offers a factory calibrated Delta E<1 accuracy too.

In addition, the LCD panel surface uses what AOC refer to as an “STW polarizer” which they say helps to “maintain excellent black depth and colour accuracy even at side viewing angles, thus improving the multi-angle viewing experience.” This seems like it might be akin to older A-TW polarizers which were used on some older IPS panels.

The dual-mode 180Hz / 350Hz refresh rates are supported by adaptive-sync for VRR from compatible systems and it has been certified under the NVIDIA ‘G-sync compatible’ scheme.

Other gaming features include Low Input Lag, Dynamic Crosshair, Sniper Scope, Dark Area control, enhanced Shadow Detail, Frame Counter and Game Colour. You can also customise your gaming set-up too using AOC’s G-Menu software which allows for easy access to your gaming pre-sets and display settings.

HDR support is limited offering DisplayHDR 400 certification only, with a peak brightness reaching 500 nits and we expect no local dimming capabilities as a result.

The stand comes with a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments and there is a headphone hook on the side for your convenience. Flicker-free and Low Blue Light technologies are also included to provide a more comfortable viewing experience. It also includes AOC’s Light FX feature which is an RGB ambient lighting system at the back which illuminates the area behind the monitor proving you with more immersion.

Connectivity

There are extensive connectivity options including 2x HDMI 2.1, 1x DisplayPort 2.1 (80Gbps for UHBR20), USB Type-C port (with DP Alt Mode and 65W power delivery), 3x USB Type-A ports, 1x USB Type-B port, a headphone jack and 2x 5W speakers. Also included is a built-in KVM switch function and PiP/PbP support for handling multiple devices.

Availability and Pricing

Although this has now appeared in China, further details on wider launch in other key regions, and pricing remain unclear at this time. More info when we get it.
