Acer XF252QX with Advertised 0.3ms Response Time and 240Hz
A new model from Acer has appeared in some regions, specifically Taiwan so far. The XF252QX is 24.5″ in size (25″ class) and features a 1920 x 1080 resolution, TN Film technology panel. Of most interest are the screens gaming specs which include an advertised 0.3ms G2G response time. This is the ‘minimum’ response time spec, with 1ms G2G also quoted. Whether or not this 0.3ms figure is achievable in real life remains to be seen of course, and it’s only good if that can be achieved without adding loads of overshoot being introduced. Response times across a range of pixel colour transitions also need to be consistently low, so it’s perhaps worth taking this spec with a pinch of salt for now until proper testing can be done. Nevertheless it’s interesting to see manufacturers starting to push these new <1ms specs.
As well as the new super-low response time spec, the screen does feature a native 240Hz refresh rate for high frame rates and improved motion clarity. It supports AMD FreeSync, and so will also support NVIDIA G-sync in some capacity thanks to the January 2019 driver updates from NVIDIA.
The screen has a 3-side “zero frame” design for a sleek overall appearance and decent support if you wanted a multi-screen setup. HDR is talked about in the features list, but given the specs (below) this looks like it will only be the lowly VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification and therefore not really offering any meaningful HDR experience. Not expecting any local dimming here, and it doesn’t even have a wide DCI-P3 colour gamut of 10-bit colour depth support. This is likely nothing more than accepting an HDR10 input source.
Spec wise the screen is 24.5″ in size and features a 1920 x 1080 resolution. There is a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 170/160 viewing angles, 16.7m colour depth and standard sRGB gamut. 1x DisplayPort 1.2 and 2x HDMI 2.0 connections are provided along with a 4 port USB 3.0 hub. There are integrated 2x 2W stereo speakers and an SPK and audio out connection. A full range of tilt, height (120mm), swivel and rotation adjustments are offered from the versatile stand.
No word on release or pricing in other regions like the UK or US, but we will update this news piece when we get more information.
