MSI have unveiled their new MAG 272QPW QD-OLED X28 monitor at Computex this week as it makes its first appearance on the World stage. This screen features a 27″ class (accurately 26.5”) display built around a Samsung Display QD-OLED technology panel, with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and 280Hz refresh rate. This refresh rate sits between some of their existing 360Hz 27″ QD-OLED monitors like the MPG 271QRX, and some of their 240Hz models like the MAG 271QPX QD-OLED E2 for instance. This new screen also has a white enclosure which is fairly rare in the monitor market.

MSI MAG 272QPW QD-OLED X28 Specs

The screen is 26.5” (27” class) in size, with a flat format Samsung Display Gen 3 QD-OLED panel. It has a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 0.03ms G2G response time spec, 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, 250 nits SDR brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, a 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% of the DCI-P3, 138% of the sRGB and 98% of the Adobe RGB colour spaces. It also offers a factory calibration with Delta E<2 accuracy.

For HDR it is certified under the VESA ‘DisplayHDR 400 True Black’ tier and offers a peak brightness of 1000 nits (3% APL) and 450 nits (10% APL).

The 280Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR from compatible systems. It is also VESA ClearMR 15000 certified for motion clarity performance. Other gaming features include AI Crosshair, AI Vision, Console Mode and Optix scope.

The screen comes with a 3-year warranty which includes burn-in cover, and includes the company’s OLED Care 2.0 feature set and a Custom Heatsink and graphene film panel for a fan-less design.

The stand offers tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.

Connectivity

For connectivity the screen has 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 2x HDMI 2.1 and 1x USB Type-C (with DP Alt mode and 15W power delivery) and a headphone jack. Note that there’s no USB data ports on this MAG series screen but like they added to their other MAG models, it does support firmware updates.

Pricing and availability

The screen has an RRP of $599 USD and is in mass production now as of early May, with an expected availability in July. We will be providing a full round-up of the latest MSI monitor news and announcements from Computex in the near future, so keep checking back
