TFTCentral’s November Monthly Round-up
Here’s our monthly roundup for those who perhaps can’t keep up with all the news and information on a regular basis. We will try and provide a round-up of some of the key things going on in the monitor world each month, as well as features and useful stuff we’ve not reported on before. If you want to keep up to date but on a less regular basis, this should be all you need!

An interesting study about high refresh rate gaming
There’s a very interesting video that Linus Tech Tips has produced which tries to answer a common gaming question – “Does High FPS make you a better gamer?”. The video was produced with support from NVIDIA and features several professional gamers, including Shroud. It’s an interesting watch. Check it out below

Another useful external resource about gaming monitors is a recently published article by Intel. If you’re unsure about what some of the specs mean, what you should look out for and some of the options in the monitor market, check it out.
Market Analysis shows trends for gaming monitors
There’s an interesting study which is worth a read, showing some of the trends in the gaming monitor market. What proportion have G-sync vs FreeSync? what is the most common refresh rate, screen size and panel tech? Have a read here.
Acer Predator X38 P sneaks out as an interesting alternative to the long-awaited LG 38GL950G
This is one of the most interesting pieces of monitor news from November, the launch of a new 37.5″ screen from Acer – the Predator X38 P. This is a direct alternative to the long-awaited LG 38GL950G, which we feel like we’ve been waiting on forever! It’s got a 3840 x 1600 resolution, 175Hz refresh rate, Native NVIDIA G-sync and an advertised 1ms G2G response time. See our news piece for more info on that new display. It’s appeared in China and Taiwan already, but release dates and pricing in the US and Europe are not confirmed at this time.
The LG 38GL950G has started to appear in some regions including early stock in the US and in Europe. It’s not arrived yet in the UK, but we should have a sample with us as soon as it appears for a full review!
NVIDIA Open Up Support for Adaptive-sync/FreeSync for Future Native G-sync Module Screens
This news attracted a lot of interest in the market. NVIDIA have decided to open up support for adaptive-sync on future Native G-sync screens (those with the added hardware module) which will allow both HDMI-VRR for consoles, and adaptive-sync VRR over DisplayPort for other graphics cards like AMD.
