Philips 25M4P5200T – More Details of this 24.5″ 1080p 1000Hz Panel Revealed

Philips have recently shared further details of their 1000Hz refresh rate esports focussed gaming monitor which was first teased back in May. The 25M4P5200T model, part of their Evnia 5000 line-up, will feature a small-format 24.5” Fast IPS panel with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a native 1000Hz refresh rate.

This panel has been developed in collaboration with panel manufacturers, BOE, offering what they refer to as being “True 1000Hz FHD” which is a notable difference to some other 1000Hz+ displays which only operate at that refresh rate when using a dual-mode function and when running at a much lower 720p resolution.

This comes hot on the heels of the AOC AGON Pro AGP257FT, which is no surprise considering both Philips and AOC are closely aligned through their parent company, TPV Technology Limited, and is set to compete with the LG UltraGear 25G590B which we reviewed back in August.

Philips 25M4P5200T Specs

This is a 24.5” sized screen with a flat format and built around as Fast IPS LCD technology panel. It offers a 1920 x 1080 resolution, 90 PPI pixel density, 1ms G2G response time spec , 1000:1 contrast ratio, 450 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 8-bit colour depth and an extended colour gamut covering 122% of the sRGB, 91% of the Adobe RGB and 88% of the DCI-P3 colour spaces. It also comes with a factory calibrated Delta E <2 colour accuracy. It has limited HDR support meeting a modest VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification standard only.

The massive 1000Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync technology for VRR from compatible, and includes support for AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ and NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ schemes. Other gaming features include Low Input Lag, Smart MBR Sync, Smart Crosshair, Smart Sniper and Stark Shadow Boost.

Another interesting feature is the display comes equipped with Philips’ SmartImage Game mode technology which adapts the display’s settings to optimise your gaming experience by adjusting brightness, contrast, colour and sharpness in real time depending on what type of game genre you are playing. It also offers Smart Uniformity and Smart Contrast technologies to enhance your overall visual experience.

The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments, and the design includes Philips’ unique “Iconglow” RGB lighting system on the rear of the panel. It also incorporates the Evnia Precision Centre software to allow you to personalise your monitor to suit your gaming needs.

Low Blue Light and Flicker-free technologies are also on hand to help reduce eye strain and fatigue, whilst the panel will also boast Circular Polarisation technology which means that the light emitted from the monitor should apparently closely resemble that of natural light which can provided users with a healthier eye experience and more comfortable viewing experience.

Connectivity

For connectivity the screen is equipped with 1x DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR tier not clear) , 2x HDMI 2.1 ports and a headphone jack. In addition there is also PiP/PbP support for handling multiple devices.

Availability and pricing

The Philips 25M4P5200T is currently only available to buy in China, with details on a wider release and pricing still awaited.
