LG UltraFine 32U990A Announced with a 6K Resolution and Thunderbolt 5

Announced back in January 2025, LG’s latest UltraFine 32U990A monitor is the world’s first 6K high-resolution monitor to come with Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, which Apple introduced late last year with the launch of new Mac mini and MacBook Pro models powered by M4 Pro chips. Featuring a 6144 x 3456 resolution Nano IPS Black panel, it is designed to deliver exceptional colour accuracy and a high contrast with a wide colour gamut covering 99.5% of Adobe RGB and 98% of DCI-P3.

With hardware calibration support, this monitor is aimed at media professionals, while its slim, geometric design enhances both aesthetics and user convenience to satisfy every kind of user.

The 4-sided borderless design increases immersion, maximize desk space efficiency. Users maintain a neat workspace for enjoyable/efficient work thanks to the circular design of the stand, enhancing space utilization. The stand provides features such as like tilt/height/pivot. Users can adjust the screen by adjusting the height/angle and read long documents in vertical direction as well if they want.

Other details are very limited at this time, but it received a CES 2025 Innovation Award – although we didn’t spot this on show at their booth during the CES event. It has more recently shown up on the iF design award site as well where more photos were also provided. We have a few other specs which include a 60Hz refresh rage, 450 nits SDR brightness, 178/178 viewing angles and a 10-bit colour depth. It’s also going to be certified under the VESA DisplayHDR 600 tier, meaning a peak brightness of >600 nits in HDR content.

The Thunderbolt 5 connection offers 96W power delivery and DP Alt mode along with data transfer. DisplayPort and HDMI connections will also feature.
Pricing and availability
Update 14 Oct 2025 – this screen is now listed on LG’s website at a price of $1,999.99 USD and available to pre-order, with orders expected to start shipping from around 24 November apparently. It’s also listed at the same price on some other retailers including Bestbuy (showing as coming soon) and B&H Photo (expected from 23 Oct 2025).
