BenQ ZOWIE XL2566K Announced with 24.5″ 1080p and 360Hz, but with a TN Film Panel

BenQ have released details of their new ZOWIE XL2566K this week, a 24.5″ sized gaming display with a 1080p resolution, a 360Hz refresh rate….but a TN Film panel. This sets it apart from current 360Hz screens which all uses IPS-type panels, with TN Film still being a popular option in the pro gaming space, and providing snappy response times and performance that should be well suited to the high refresh rate on offer here.
The BenQ website says: “XL2566K is the flagship model that offers competitive gamers optimized smoothness and fast response, as well as its many customizable features that will help amateurs and pros alike to perform to the best of their best abilities. With the exclusive DyAc⁺™ technology on top of 360Hz refresh rate on a TN panel, XL2566K provides an overall clearer motion clarity than the market’s offerings in its class.”

BenQ ZOWIE XL2566K Specs
The screen is 24.5″ in size and has a 1920 x 1080 resolution TN Film technology panel. There is a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 320 cd/m2 brightness and 170/160 viewing angles. Response time spec isn’t actually listed which is odd, but there is a high 360Hz refresh rate as already discussed. The colour specs are not listed for some reason at this time.
For connectivity there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, along with a headphone jack. The stand provides a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate functionality. A shading hood / shield is provided in the box as well along with the S-switch accessory discussed a bit more below.
A promotional video is available here talking about the screen:
BenQ XL Settings and S-switch Accessory
The screen features BenQ’s “XL Settings” which allows you to “Share your own settings with a teammate, friend, or your fans. Save video profiles quickly and share conveniently through a simple user interface.” This is explained further in their short video:
The change to the user interface and the new 5-way S Switch accessory provided with the screen is more than just cosmetic. The redesigned interface provides you the ability to customize which FPS settings you would like to access quickly via quick menu, and then allows you to access them with one-touch. Setting up before games or during rounds is now much more convenient.

Availability and Pricing
The screen is listed at a price of $599 USD on the BenQ USA website, with pre-orders available now and an expected shipping date of 18 October. European pricing and launch date is not yet listed.
