Asus ROG Swift PG34WCDN Unveiled with 34″ 360Hz 5th-Gen QD-OLED Panel

Asus have announced today their new ROG Swift PG34WCDN OLED monitor, featuring Samsung Display’s brand-new 5^th-Gen QD-OLED panel that we saw announced a few days ago. It’s a 34” ultrawide monitor with a subtle 1800R curvature and offering a 3440 x 1440 resolution and 360Hz refresh rate. Most exciting of all is that this new 5th Gen QD-OLED panel offers a whole range of updates and improvements, including an RGB-stripe pixel layout for improving text and image clarity, and a new ‘BlackShield Film’ for improving panel hardness, scratch resistance and black depth.

5th-Gen QD-OLED Panel and ‘BlackShield Film’

We are especially exciting to see Samsung Display’s new 5^th-Gen Tandem QD-OLED panel technology being utilised in this model as part of their 2026 panel line-up. Note that Samsung Display don’t like to refer to their panels by generation any more, but there are significant changes here which warrant this ‘Gen 5’ naming scheme which we’ve used.

This new panel features for the first time a true RGB stripe pixel arrangement (which Samsung Display are calling “V-stripe”), enhancing the image and text clarity and eliminating fringing issues that have impacted earlier QD-OLED monitor panels.

The screen also includes what Asus are referring to as a ‘BlackShield Film’ coating which helps deliver deeper blacks in brighter room conditions and reduce the purple tint that impacts older panels. This is actually a coating applied by Samsung Display at the panel level, with the ‘BlackShield Film’ being Asus’ branding name for it – much like MSI are calling it ‘DarkArmor’ for their equivalent monitors.

The panel hardness has also increased from 2H to 3H, offering better scratch resistance and durability. This new coating also features on their recently announced 32″ QD-OLED monitor for 2026, although note that those models did not have the new V-stripe / RGB stripe sub-pixel layout.

The new 5th Gen QD-OLED panel also offers enhanced brightness thanks to the use of their latest EL 3.0 OLED material (also featured on their 4th Gen panels), with a 300 nits SDR luminance and True Black 500 certification for HDR. It also includes for the first time an increased peak brightness spec of 1300 nits in HDR.

Asus ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN Specs

This 34″ ultrawide sized screen has a subtle 1800R curvature. It features a 3440 x 1440 resolution, 21:9 aspect ratio, 0.03ms G2G response time spec, 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, 300 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space. It also offers a factory calibrated Delta E<2 accuracy.

The 360Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for variable refresh rates from compatible systems. It has improved HDR capabilities with certification under the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 tier along with an improved peak brightness spec of 1300 nits.

ELMB (Extreme Low Motion Blur) is featured, for motion blur reduction using a BFI mode, and ROG Gaming AI technology is incorporated including AI Visual, Dynamic Shadow Boost and Dynamic Crosshair. Asus’s useful DisplayWidget Center software is also included which helps you control and customise your Asus monitor to meet your gaming needs.

The stand offers a range of tilt, height and swivel adjustments. A full range of OLED Care Pro features are featured, along with their Neo Proximity Sensor to help mitigate the risk of image retention and burn-in.

Connectivity

There are extensive connectivity options including 2x HDMI 2.1, 1x DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20 – full 80 Gbps bandwidth) and 1x USB Type-C connection (with DP Alt Mode and 90W power delivery). There’s also 3x USB-A data ports and a headphone connection.

Availability and pricing

We’re still pending information on pricing, but the screen is expected to be released during Q1 2026.
