Acer Announce New ‘SpatialLabs View Pro 27’ 3D Display with 27″ 4K 160Hz Panel
Acer are planning to launch a new, larger format screen in their innovative ‘SpatialLabs’ glasses-free 3D display range. This was a product range we looked at in detail earlier in the year, and we had chance to test and use their two 15.6″ sized portable displays at the time and we were very impressed by the 3D performance and effect they could offer. You can read a lot more about the technology and these products in that article.
Now, Acer are going to release a 27″ sized monitor aimed primarily at creative professionals – the Acer SpatialLabs View Pro 27. This glasses-free stereoscopic 3D display utilizes Spatial Computing, providing a lifelike viewing experience that goes beyond traditional flat-screen monitors. Additionally the Acer Immerse Audio technology complements the Visual Audio effect, delivering impressive sound quality to enhance the overall immersive experience.
Acer SpatialLabs View Pro 27 Specs
The new screen is 27″ in size and features a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution. It also has a 160Hz refresh rate, which makes it a far more viable option for 3D gaming (including 3D upscaling or 2D content) than the smaller 60Hz-only displays we tested before. There is also a 400 nits brightness and the screen comes factory calibrated with a dE <2. Other specs are still to be provided.
A detachable hood on the monitor enhances perceived color accuracy and lessens distractions, helping users stay focused and maintain image quality when viewing their designs on screen. The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments. For connectivity there are DisplayPort 2.1 (apparently!), HDMI 2.1 and USB type-C connections provided. 2x USB data ports are also features.
Glasses-free 3D mode supported
The Acer SpatialLabs View Pro 27 harmoniously combines cutting-edge 3D technology and stereo real-time rendering capabilities in an expanded landscape to support creators in bringing 3D experiences to life. The optimized 3D display uses an eye-tracking module to follow the position and movement of users in real-time even in dim environments.
Acer Immerse Audio
Further upscaling Acer’s pioneer 3D developments, the Acer SpatialLabs View Pro 27 introduces the new Acer Immerse Audio system for an enveloping virtual headphone experience. The AI-powered sound innovation uses beamforming directional acoustic signal transmissions and head-tracking mechanisms to produce spatial audio projected from two upward-facing 2.5-watt speakers.
The press release says that “Whether it is presenting lively displays and content with spatial audio within museum or showroom environments, a spherical zone of fine-tuned sounds combined with SpatialLabs’ visual technology instantly craft a completely immersive 3D experience that resonates with every detail, movement, and emotion.”
Built for Creators
Aside from presenting 3D displays, the SpatialLabs Experience Center Pro software package comes with the screen, providing designers ready-to-use applications such as SpatialLabs Model Viewer, and add-ons for design software that assist in accelerating workflows and producing quality 3D content. Compatibility with renowned rendering engines like Unreal and Unity let developers across a wide range of industries and expertise easily craft and present designs on SpatialLabs Pro devices.
The Acer Steam VR bridge benefits VR and XR developers by transforming their creations into high resolution, glasses-free 3D visuals. Combined with Acer’s OpenXR-compliant runtime, the displays seamlessly deliver stereoscopic images on compatible applications.
More information and demos
The Acer SpatialLabs View Pro 27 will be on display for the first time, along with other SpatialLabs devices at the Immerse Global Summit (IGS) in Orlando, Florida from October 17-19. Developers and interested parties are welcome to book a session for demos and collaboration discussions. For more details and inquiries, contact [email protected]
Pricing and Availability
The Acer SpatialLabs View Pro 27 (model number ASV27-2P) will be available in Q1 2024 apparently, with pricing to be confirmed.
A product page exists on Acer’s New Zealand site but doesn’t include much more information.
