Philips Evnia 27M2G5800 Announced with 27″ 5K Dual-Mode IPS 165/330Hz Panel

Philips are the latest brand to unveil a 5K dual-mode IPS monitor this year, joining the likes of Asus, MSI, LG, Acer, Samsung and AOC. The 27M2G5800, part of their popular Evnia gaming range, is a 27” ‘Fast IPS’ panel boasting an impressive 5120 x 2880 “5K” native resolution and 165Hz refresh rate, which can be overclocked a little in fact to 180Hz. A dual-mode function allows you to double your refresh rate to 330Hz when dropping to a 1440p resolution. So, whether it’s stunning and immersive visuals you require or faster speeds and higher frame rates, this screen has you covered.

Philips Evnia 27M2G5800 Specs

This is a 27” sized screen with a flat format and built around a ‘Fast IPS’ LCD technology panel. It offers a 5K resolution, ~218 PPI pixel density, 1ms G2G response time spec (0.5ms Smart MBR), 1000:1 contrast ratio, 500 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, an 8-bit + FRC colour depth offering 1.07 billion colours and a wide colour gamut covering 98% of the DCI-P3, 110% of the Adobe RGB and 100% of the sRGB colour spaces. It also comes with a factory calibrated Delta <1 colour accuracy. It has limited HDR support meeting the lowest tier VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification standard only.

The 165/330Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR from compatible systems. Other gaming features include Low Input Lag, Smart Crosshair, Smart Sniper, Stark Shadowboost and Shadow Enhancement settings.

The spec says that you can run at up to 180Hz / 330Hz in 8-bit colour depth mode only, and the maximum you can run at 10-bit would be 144Hz / 288Hz apparently.

A few other features include support for the Philips’ Evnia Precision Centre Software which allows you to customise your set-up to meet all of your gaming needs, whilst the Multi-window mode allows for active, simultaneous viewing of multiple devices such as PC’s and laptops at the same time.

The stand offers a full range of tilt, height swivel and rotate adjustments for your comfort, and eye-protective features of Flicker-Free and LowBlue Mode technologies help reduce fatigue during long periods of usage.

Connectivity

Connectivity options include 2x HDMI 2.1, 1x DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR tier not listed) and a headphone jack. It also includes a USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub with 1x USB Type-B and 2x USB Type-A ports.
