EIZO Launch the ColorEdge CS3200X, the First 31.5″ 4K Model in Their CS Series
Eizo have recently unveiled the newest offering in their ColorEdge CS series. The CS3200X is an entry-level colour management large format monitor aimed at professional and creative users. It features a 32″ screen built around an IPS LCD technology panel with a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution. This is the first 32″ 4K model to appear in the more affordable CS range and offers a great alternative to their premium CG line-up.
EIZO ColorEdge CS3200X Specs
In other specs the 32” sized screen (31.5″ accurately) has a 3840 x 2160 resolution and offers a 140 PPI pixel density, 60Hz refresh rate, 14ms G2G response time spec, 1300:1 contrast ratio, 178/178 viewing angles, 350 nits brightness (SDR), a 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99% of the Adobe RGB and 96% of the DCI-P3 colour spaces. Colour mode presets for DCI-P3, BT.709 and Display P3 can easily be changed for straightforward and intuitive switching between workflows.
For HDR content the monitor supports both industry-standard transfer functions – Hybrid log-gamma (HLG) for broadcast and Perceptual Quantization (PQ) for film and streaming production. These gamma curves expand the monitor’s ability to display HDR content for more precise images. However, the screen doesn’t offer any real HDR hardware capabilities, so HDR performance is limited.
The monitor supports hardware-level calibration using an external device (sold separately) and it supports Eizo’s ColorNavigator 7 colour management software, to help ensure consistent colour accuracy and precision. They screen also includes support for EIZO’s Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE) technology for improving screen uniformity.
The CS3200X is also the first model in the CS series to boast a new “Sync Signal” feature which automatically adjusts brightness, gamma and colour gamut based on the metadata of the incoming video signal to ensure consistent colour reproduction across different tasks. This is particularly useful when switching between SDR and HDR content.
The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments and the screen comes with a 5-year warranty. It also features a new three-sided frameless design for a sleek and modern look and provides a noiseless, fan-less operation for a more focussed working environment.
This model also comes with a detachable magnetic light-shielding hood too which helps prevent glare on the screen.
Connectivity
For connectivity there is 1x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 1x USB Type-C (with DP Alt Mode and 70W power delivery). It also includes 4x USB Type-A data ports on the side of the screen for easy-access.
Availability and pricing
It is anticipated that the ColorEdge CS3200X will be available for shipping in June, with details on pricing still pending.
