Dell Alienware AW2726DM Announced, Offering a New Affordable QD-OLED Option
Dell are today introducing a new affordable, low cost QD-OLED monitor to the masses. The Alienware AW2726DM offers a 27” sized screen and features a QD-OLED panel, a 2560 x 1440 resolution and 240Hz refresh rate, all wrapped up at a very attractive price point. So, if you are looking to switch from an LCD to a QD-OLED monitor but without breaking the bank, this screen could be worth looking at.
Dell Alienware AW2726DM Specs
This is a 27” sized screen utilising a QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display. It features a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 111 PPI pixel density, 0.03ms G2G response time spec, 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, 200 nits brightness (SDR), 178/178 viewing angles, a 10-bit colour depth offering 1.07 billion colours and a wide colour gamut covering 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space.
Note that the SDR brightness of this screen is lower than many other 27″ QD-OLED monitors on the market, a pattern we’ve seen recently from other manufacturers as well offering lower cost, lower spec OLED monitors. We also believe this will impact the HDR peak brightness specs of this screen, although specs aren’t provided in that area, only that it will support HDR10 content.
The 240Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive sync with AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ and VESA ‘AdaptiveSync’ certification to prevent screen tearing for smoother gameplay.
User comfort is at the forefront of this display as it comes with a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments to allow you to fully optimise your viewing position and it comes with a TÜV Rheinland® 3-star certification ensuring eye comfort for those long gaming sessions.
The screen also comes with a 3-year warranty which includes OLED burn-in protection, and is equipped with Dell’s Anti burn-in technology, which includes an AI Algorithm (a real time pixel management system) and a graphite film heatsink, to help extend the longevity of the panel.
Connectivity
Connectivity is very limited given the low price and there are 2x HDMI 2.0 speed ports (supporting 1440p @ 120Hz max, TMDS signalling), 1 x DisplayPort 1.4 and a headphone jack provided.
