We’ve recently completed our review of the excellent Asus TUF Gaming VG279QM, a 27″ IPS monitor boasting a 280Hz refresh rate (the fastest currently available), 1ms G2G response time, G-sync/FreeSync support and the ability to use a motion blur reduction mode at the same time as variable refresh rates via Asus’ ELMB-sync feature. That model is 27″ in size and has a 1920 x 1080 resolution. If you are looking for something a little smaller, or prefer this 1080p res on a smaller sized screen then Asus are also set to release the 24.5″ sized VG259QM now.
Most of the spec is identical to the 27″ VG279QM. The screen is a little smaller at 24.5″ but has the same 1920 x 1080 resolution, 1ms G2G response time, 280Hz refresh rate, G-sync/FreeSync support and ELMB-sync mode. In other specs there is a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 16.7m colour depth and sRGB colour gamut. Basically all the specs are the same as the 27″ model, just on a slightly smaller screen.
Connectivity wise there is 1x DisplayPort 1.2 and 2x HDMI 2.0 connections provided, along with a headphone jack. 2x 2W speakers also feature. The stand provides a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.
The VG259QM is available to pre-order now in the UK from Overclockers at a price of £268.99. Stock is expected to arrive in about 2 weeks.
