Asus have recently unveiled their new ROG Strix XG259QNSR Ace and ROG Strix XG259QNSR-W Ace gaming monitors, aimed at professional and esports gamers, with a focus on speed, latency and refresh rate. These small format 24.5” sized screens are built around a ‘Fast IPS’ panel, offering a 1920 x 1080 resolution and an overclocked 420Hz refresh rate.

These screens are identical in specs with the only difference being in the colour with the XG259QNSR Ace featuring a black design and the XG259QNSR-W Ace featuring a white design.

These screens are both 24.5” in size (25” class), with a flat format featuring a ‘Fast IPS’ LCD technology panel. They offer a 1920 x 1080 resolution, 1ms G2G response time spec (0.3ms MPRT), 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 nits SDR brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 8-bit colour depth and an extended colour gamut covering 90% of the DCI-P3 and 115% of the sRGB colour spaces.

The impressive 420Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync for VRR from compatible systems, including certification under the NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ and AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ schemes. Asus also promote the inclusion of “Variable Overdrive 2.0” which should hopefully help control response times during VRR situations.

They also incorporate ELMB Sync (Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync) technology to reduce motion blur via a strobing blur reduction backlight that can be used at the same time as VRR. Other gaming enhancements include ‘ROG Gaming AI’ features such as AI Visual, Dynamic Crosshair and Dynamic Shadow Boost. Asus’ DisplayWidget Center software is also included, allowing you to customise your gaming set-up.

The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments, and user comfort is further enhanced with Low Blue Mode and Flicker Free technologies on hand to help reduce eye strain, both of which meet TÜV Rheinland standards.

Connectivity

Connectivity options include 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.1 connections. There are also 2x USB Type-A data ports and a headphone jack.

Availability and pricing

These are expected to be available soon, however specific details on release date and pricing are not yet known.
