Originally announced back in January, Samsung are now set to release their new Odyssey G7 series of gaming displays. These are available in sizes of 27″ and 32″ a and focus on delivering 240Hz VA panels combined with higher resolutions than you’d normally find with this refresh rate. The new models are the 27″ C27G75T and 31.5″ C32G75T.

The C27G75T is a 27″ model (officially 26.9″ in size) and C32G75T is a 31.5″ model and offer very similar specs apart from their physical size. Both have a 1000R curvature (fairly steep). They have a 2560 x 1440 resolution VA panels, which will be the first time this resolution has been combined with 240Hz on this technology. So far we’ve only seen a few TN Film panels with 1440p @ 240Hz, such as the recently reviewed AOC AGON AG273QZ. Both models support adaptive sync for variable refresh rates from both AMD and NVIDIA systems (60 – 240Hz range with LFC). There is also an advertised 1ms G2G response time but take this with a big pinch of salt, especially on a VA panel.

In other specs there is a 2500:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness (600 cd/m2 peak for HDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 8-bit+FRC colour depth and wide gamut covering 95% of the DCI-P3 space. The wide gamut is achieved through Samsung’s so-called “QLED” backlight which combines Quantum Dots with blue-LED.

Some level of HDR support is achieved through the use of edge-lit local dimming, offering a peak brightness of 600 cd/m2. Combined with the 10-bit colour depth and wide gamut support this means the screen can be certified to the VESA DisplayHDR 600 standard.

The 27″ and 32″ models have a distinctive gamer design with things like the new ‘Core Lighting’ LED system which can be set to 5 different colours, including the default ‘ice blue’. There are LED’s situated on the bottom edge overhang sections and on the back of the screen too which look pretty cool. There are PiP and PbP functions offered as well.

The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and even pivot (according to the Samsung spec page) adjustments. There are 2x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.0, 2x USB 3.0 and a headphone connection provided.
