Philips Reveal the Evnia 27M2N6801M, a 27″ 4K Dual-mode IPS Monitor with a Mini LED Backlight

Philips have announced a new gaming monitor in their Evnia 6000 series. The 27M2N6801M features a 27” sized screen with a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution, built around a ‘Fast IPS’ technology panel offering a native 160Hz refresh rate. Dual-mode technology allows users to drop to a lower FHD 1080p resolution, boosting the refresh rate up to 320Hz for faster paced games if they want. This ‘all-rounder’, as Philips put it, offers the best of both worlds so whether it’s impressive visuals or fast response times you are looking for, this monitor delivers on both. It also features an impressive high-end 2,304-zone Mini LED backlight for excellent HDR performance.

The screen is 27” in size with a flat format and is built around a ‘Fast IPS’ panel. It has a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution, 163 PPI pixel density, 1ms GTG response time spec (0.5ms MRPT), 1000:1 contrast ratio, 178/178 viewing angles, 600 nits typical brightness (SDR), an 8-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 99.9% of the sRGB, 98% of the DCI-P3 and 96.4% of the Adobe RGB colour spaces. It also offers a factory calibration with Delta E<2 accuracy.

The native 160Hz refresh rate is supported by adaptive-sync technology for VRR from compatible systems. Other gaming features include Smart Uniformity, Smart Crosshair, Stark ShadowBoost, Smart Sniper and Shadow Enhancement. It also comes with Evnia Precision Centre software to allow you to customise your monitor to suit your gaming needs.
High-end Mini LED backlight
The 2,304 dimming zone Mini LED backlight offers high end HDR capabilities, as well as certification under the VESA DisplayHDR 1400 tier and a peak brightness spec of 1650 nits. With a large number of local dimming zones it should be able to offer excellent contrast and reduced blooming compared with lower zone-count monitors.

The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments, and is available in a rare white colour.
Connectivity

For connectivity there are 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, 1x DisplayPort 1.4 , 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A data ports and a headphone jack. The screen also includes PiP/PbP support for handling multiple video inputs.
Pricing and availability
This screen is currently only available in China and we are yet to learn whether it will be launched globally.
